Wow, those Joe customs pictured at TNI (thanks for the link HMI) are really amazing.  Although I kind of prefer the smaller scale too (lack of space, nostalgia), these are really well done, and I would have a tough time passing up at least a couple of them if they were at retail.  I was pretty into Joe when I was a kid, and wouldn't mind having a few of today's figures, but the modern ones just don't do much for me.  I prefer the vintage-style figure makeup I think.  I guess those comic packs are supposed to be like that though, right?

There's some that really impress though in the modern line.

For instance, the new Firefly sculpt ROCKS, and even has a working holster on his chest for a pistol.  If they'd paint him ala the vintage Firefly, THAT would be a kick ass figure.

The new Alpine is sorta neat too, but again deco kills it.

One that rocks though, and has a good deco and redeco coming, is the "Cross Hair" figure.  WOW that's a cool guy.  The kinda figure that, as a kid, would've been my favorite Joe I used to pretend "I" am a G.I. Joe too...

Their new Recondo's cool too, and even has extra articulation, but I was saddened they didn't try gooing with a retro looko at all (no tiger stripe camo, no boonie hat with side pinned up, no mustache).

The "Disco" Destro rocks too.  I saw people dump on that figure but Destro in kinda clubby clothes is a neat concept, and the sculpt's great.  I got mine with a riot gun and his double holsters with big ass .44 magnums is awesome looking.  THAT is a modern day Destro.

The last Cobra Commander sculpt's good too, and in the proper blue/red deco he's really a nice update to the timeless leader.

Agreed - I'd love to see a Cobra Commander w/ helmet and a Cobra Viper done like that!  :-*

You sir missed the Cobra Forces 6-pack.

Damn! I looked those up and that was a sweet package. Why the hell hadn't I seen those before?  ??? I would have grabbed 2 of those 6 packs if I'd seen them.

Obviously I am out of touch in the GI Joe world.  :'(

Probably missed 'em because everyone and his brother bought EVERY set they saw at retail.

I got one, and even as a  non-Joe collector I had to have it and wish I had more.  It's one of them sets that having 5 (for 30 troops) would've easily been justified.

Their packs and rifles blow, but I'd have just cast them some AK-47's and an RPG or something, and had a dandy little terrorist group.

If BBI and 21st aren't going to release "enemies" en masse then they'd have fought Cobra on a daily basis on their shelf in my room. :)

Yea the rifles and packs look way too huge. I'd love a pack of Cobra Infantry, Vipers, and Crimson Guards.  :-*

Vipers were disappointing to me.  Nothing could replace the troops aside from Crimson Guards.  I thought Vipers were kind of the beginning of the end to me.

Fans of Devil's Due's GI Joe need to check THIS out. They and Hasbro are doing a Fan Choice contest...

How much would you pay for this belt buckle? Would you shell out $150?

I'd kill a puppy for a Serpentor figure in that new outfit.

But considering it will have those freakish shoulder joints like all modern Joes, I'd hate myself for buying it.

Anybody buying the comic three packs?  4 and 5 are the best so far IMO.  I'm really looking forward to the Oktober Guard.  The Issue 8 pack looks good, but I'd rather have Flash in his uniform than the space suit version.  We also need Grand Slam and Grunt in their uniforms.
I was able to score an Operation Crimson Sabotage set tonight at the Mall of America KB store.   I had a hunch they'd have them in for Black Friday, and I was right.

Yeah, they've been tempting me. Argh. I also saw the VvV 2-pack with Venomous Maximus, who looks really cool. The Mechs also showed at Target too, which reminded me of the S.N.A.K.E. from the old line.

Man, I've sure used the 'I'd kill a puppy' line a lot in this thread.

I want that belt buckle.

Just watched that wacky Valor vs. Venom movie on CN.

Overkill sounded like a retarded Speak & Spell. That's my only real complaint.

I'm looking for one of these:

and, if any are still out there, one of these:

I really don't have much to trade besides Boba Fett and R2-D2 VOTC carded, but I do have cash.

Picked up the Venomous Maximus and Duke 2-pack today. I'm guessing Venomous is taking Serpentor's place in this new continuity. At least that's the impression I got from the movie.

I snagged a couple extra of these yesterday at KB to help other collector's out, but they got lucky today too.  Let me know if you are still looking.

Man, if you lived near this guy and wanted a Crimson Sabotage set, good luck:

It's that same goofy bastard with all the Clones in the CW area.
