Its getting to the point where i am actually considering trading in my Explorer to get the  ::) Hybrid Escape.  ::)  :-[

Hey, I checked out the hybrid escape and that is a sweet ride.  Smaller than you're used to I'm sure, but still a nice ride.  It sounds like the car is dead when you're stopped - totally silent.  Be sure to check on tax credits before you buy - they used to run a deal where the first 60k models of each type of hybrid qualified for a nifty tax break, but I don't know if you can get that deal this year or how many hybrid escapes might have already sold.

The fact that it is smaller is what really bothers me. I have to sit in one to see if i am comfortable. Thanks for the info about the tax break i will look into that. Maybe if i get a 2008 i could work that out.

Get Ready for $4.00 Gas

Question:  Is the media simply 'informing' the public or are they helping to drive the price up?

They're doing what they do best - scaring the public.

Had to go fill up the gas can for the lawnmower this afternoon...  $3.259 per gallon.

This weekend is the summer fishing opener in Minnesota.  The price has been bouncing around all week at the station nearest my house:

Mon - $3.09
Tues - $3.05
Wed - $3.09
Thur - $3.04
Fri - $3.25

Funny "coincidence" how the night before everyone hits the lakes on Saturday (and most likely needs to fill up both the car and the boat) gas spikes up $0.20 per gallon.  :-X

According to AAA, this weekend should set a new record average high for the Twin Cities...  and Memorial Day is still 2 weeks away. ::)

$3.64 at the Valero near my work.

It's funny, but if you go back to page 11 or so of this thread, you can see how relative the price bitching is. We were bemoaning $2.29 gas back then, but we'd all kill (well, severely maim) for that price right now. I wonder how long it'll be until I start wishing gas was $3.64 a gallon.  :-\

About 6 weeks or so.

Funny thing was an analyst on the radio (from the US) was talking about prices going back down soon as production ramped back up.  Yeah, right.  Prices will start to fall.  About the 7th of September.

They hit $3 mid week and I was holding out for them to come back down, but today they skyrocketed to $3.30.  I don't think the fact that fishing season starts tomorrow had anything to do with it.   ;) ::)

Today at noon gas was $2.99 I figure "hey, I'll just wait til after work then to get gas, surely they won't gouge and raise the price over the next four hours".

So, 4 hours later I pull up to the pump $3.25. I didn't give them the satisfaction.

They always change around noon these days Jay.  :-\  I think of it as gambling.  If I need gas, I drive by 3 stations on the way in and try to guess whether the price will be higher on the way home or lower.  I almost always wait to see if it goes lower and 99% of the time it goes higher.   >:(

That's what you get for taunting me with your $2.99 price earlier...   :P
