Driving music:

Underrated--if only because Achtung, Baby! was so damn good.

I can't ever find the words to describe this album.  I like it.

I was always kind of partial to this one, myself:

Walking around Wal-Mart this afternoon, "Slaves & Bulldozers" popped into my head for some reason, so I'm getting ready to put this album on for the first time in years.  Good stuff.

Yep.  I've been a fan of her's ever since the Magnolia soundtrack came out back about four years ago, but didn't get around to picking up the rest of her work until earlier this year, all at the same time, actually.   :-\

But yeah, she's great, too.  I guess there's a new 2-disc Special Edition of her latest album, Lost in Space, out, which is supposed to have some good live stuff on the second disc.

Living here in Oklahoma City, I don't invision any possible opportunity I'll have to see her live at any time in the future without travelling 200+ miles somewhere. . .

Double  :-\ :-\

Aimee Mann is awesome.  She's tragically overlooked by too many people.

Right now, listening to another great songwriter...

I feel a little silly about letting this thread lapse onto the second page, and so, while I'm not listening to anything right now, really, here's what I've been listening to lately:

Loose Fur, self-titled  (a side project of Jeff Tweedy's)

Rather embarrassed over this one, given the amount of teasing I've put on Creed Boy about his favorite band.  However, in my defense, I will say that I got this for Christmas a week ago, so it's still new to me.

I will say, though, as I've mentioned before--they only used like 58 minutes of space on Disc 2, and that's including the extra four minutes or whatever between "Bee Girl" and "4/20/02".  No reason they couldn't have fit at least another two or three tracks onto it.  Oh well.

(Semi-interesting Virex trivia:  I was on the phone, on hold, for the Rockline radio show in '93 with Jeff Ament and Eddie Vedder, waiting to ask my question, when they did "Bee Girl".  Unfortunately, they ran out of time before they could get to me, but it was neat to be able to hear those guys on my phone, several seconds before I heard the same stuff on my radio I had on. . .)
