I've been listening to this of late:

5   Me and Bobby McGee / Janis Joplin 4:31
6   I'm Your Boogie Man / KC & the Sunshine Band 4:03
7   You're My Thrill / Billie Holiday 3:24
8   Pruit Igoe & Prophecies / Philip Glass Ensemble 8:37
9   Hallelujah / Leonard Cohen 4:37
10   All Along the Watchtower / Jimi Hendrix 4:01

I also iTuned "Take a Bow" by Muse and "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning" by Smashing Pumpkins, which are in the trailers but not the film. (The third bit of trailer music is "Pruit Igoe and Prophecies," which is in the film and thus here.) And I also got "99 Luftballons" which is in the film but not the ST.

The Sword, Gods of the Earth

The isn't the first time I've heard them, but the first time I've played the whole album. Holy ****. So much winningness on a single disc.

What are these guys like?  I keep reading about them and am becoming more and more interested.  The 30 second blips I can get from iTunes and Amazon are clearly not giving me an accurate sample....

Very much like Black Sabbath (without so much of the doomy lyrics) or Wolfmother. It's really heavy, but with good riffage and musicianship, not just mindless thrashing. And the lead can actually sing, not just the growling that ruins way too much of this genre.

The whole album is actually on YouTube--"unofficially" of course.

Very nice choice. I've been on a bit of a Amon Amarth kick lately, as well as spinning this...

Scott, do you find the mix that much different?  Ive listened twice now and cant hear that much of a difference and if was kind of a letdown, not the album but the mix.  When I bought the recently remixed Doors albums the sound difference was so noticeable.

Also, a couple of those unreleased songs dont seem to fit in with the ten album and I personally think they were recorded at a later time.

I'm torn on whether to get the ridiculously awesome $140 box set or just the CD/DVD combo on this one. I'd like the Drop in the Park concert, but I don't know if it's worth all that extra scratch.

On tracks like Alive, Black and Porch to me the difference is tremendous.  Some of them like Once and Even Flow didn't sound that different.  All of the reverb and sound effects that are all over is gone and the guitars are much more at the front if that makes any sense.   I'd say they brought the tracks to a truer sound to the rest of the body of work without the original slickness.   To me the highlight are the slightly different versions of Breath and SOLAT which are two of my favorites.

If you are at all a fan, the Super Deluxe set is totally worth the price.  It is so chock full of awesomeness.

I'll post this here, because I'm a cheap-ass tightwad son-of-a-bitch:

If anyone is planning on buying the Deluxe or Super Deluxe versions of Ten from Best Buy, and has no use for the exclusive code for the three Rock Band tracks that's included, I would really appreciate it if you could somehow send the code to me.

The Mars Volta - The Bedlam in Goliath

This album is growing on me even more each time I listen to it.  The arrangements are absolutely mind-blowing and the whole thing has such a bizarre tone.  I'm diggin' it.
