Ok, today I interviewed at a company, and had a day long experience with them. It was a horrible experience.
First, let's talk about the pay structure. The company advances very quickly, and within 2 or so years, you can be making well over 200K, within 15-20 years, a lot of people retire (in theory, you could retire at 35, and some have). However, this job, and all of the people, basically represent everything I hate. I would hate myself for working at a job like this, but at the same time, the money looks amazing. I had to give an immediate answer to what my intentions were, and ultimately I turned them down. The gold looked great, but how great is money if you hate yourself for the way you earned it? I dont need to go into details, but these people are wholly unethical, unprofessional, discourteous, and generally unpleasent people with the attitude of kids. Basically, they are bratty spoiled middle school kids, but older and with a lot of money.
So, was it the right decision? How much would it cost you to throw away all of your ethics and beliefs? Does the idea of retiring before your 50 sound so good that you'd become a person you hate?
