How Many Video Game Systems Do You Own?
« on: June 28, 2004, 04:09 PM »
I have:

NES
Gameboy
Sega Genesis
N64
Gamecube
PS2
Gameboy Advanced SP
PC

Of my favorites...the Sega Genesis stands heads and shoulders above all of the rest in terms of amount of time I spent playing (NES is a close second)

My latest pick-up the new Gameboy has been worth every penny so far...loving the games, the autosave, the rechargable batteries, light up screen etc etc

My wife plays our PC a lot, The Sims and Sim City are her two biggest time wasters

I have:
NES - Old School
GameCube
Playstation
PC

I primarily play NGC, while dabbling in the others.  I keep the PS around for Mortal Kombat and the Namco Museaum games; the PC is used for On-Line RPGs (Galaxies/Warcraft); and the NEW is pure nostalgia.

Nothing like draggin the NES out for a quick round of Payton and Tecmo Bowl, Kung-Fu, Excitebike, and the rest of the classics.

For game playing I currently own:

PS2, Atari 7800, and my PC (a P4/2.6Ghz w/ 512mb ram)

Taking into account all the gaming systems I've ever owned, I have had:
1979-1986: Atari 2600
1986-1988: Atari 2600 Jr (when the above one broke)
1988-present: Atari 7800 (could play 2600 & 7800 games)
1990-1995: NES
1991-1995: Sega Genesis
1991-1995: SNES
1991-1996: Game Boy (the original brick)
2003-present: Playstation 2
1990-1993: PC #1 (IBM XT 8Mhz w/ CGA graphics)
1993-1998: PC #2 (486DX2/66Mhz w/ 8mb ram and VGA graphics)
1998-2003: PC #3 (P2/333Mhz w/ 64mb ram and an 8mb SVGA vidcard)
2003-present: PC #4 (P4/2.6Ghz w/ 512mb ram and a 128mb vid card)

Of all the systems, I probably spent the most time on the various Atari systems, although from 91 to 95 (ironically my HS years) I went all out and had 5 video game systems plus a PC so a lot of time spent there. When I started college I got rid of the majority of my gaming systems and pretty much stopped playing platform games and stuck to the occassional PC-based Star Wars game. But last year the PS2 called, though I think I use it more for watching DVD's than I do playing games.

I have....

-Atari2600
-NES (The one with the robot too!  Though we never used that POS)
-SNES
-N64
-Gamecube
-X-Box

and my PC which probably gets more use than any of the abve, save the NES which we had TONS f games for.

Consoles are fun but PC won't ever be replaced IMO.  It'll only absorb consoles.

Hmmm...let's see if I can do this off the top of my head

NES
Super Nintendo
Nintendo 64
Gamecube

Gameboy
Gameboy Color
Gameboy Advance
Gameboy Advance SP

Virtual Boy

Sega Genesis
Sega CD
Sega 32X
Sega Saturn
Sega Gamegear
Sega Nomad
Sega Dreamcast

Sony Playstation
Sony Playstation 2

Xbox

I still have all of these, and they're all in great condition, although several haven't seen their power turned on in some time! I didn't bother listing my PC, but I do play on it once in a while. I think the only system I've ever owned but no longer have is a Turbographx 16. I think I sold it, after getting tired of Bonk's Adventure.

In our house here I have my old NES, Playstation, and Gamecube.  I also had a Sega Genesis growing up, which is still at my parents' house.  Spent a fair amount of time on each of them through the years, probably the most with the NES, or possibly the Playstation.

Most of my stuff is in storage these days, but over the years I’ve accumulated tons of crap. I used to be pretty hardcore about things but have mellowed out as I’ve gotten older and the job has worn me down. My ’84-prior stuff is a bit sketchy as to what I still have, since I lost a lot of it in a garage break-in a few years back. I did have a sweet Coleco Adam with dual tape drives, along with Super Donkey Kong, the only home version that has the Pie Factory level.

Consoles:
NES (frontload)
NES (topload)
Twin Famicom
Sega Master System
Sega Master System Mark II
SNES
SNES v2
TurboGrafx16
Turbo Duo
Sega Genesis
Sega Genesis v2
Sega Genesis v3 (Majesco)
JVC WonderMega
Sega-CD (frontload)
Sega-CD (topload)
Sega 32X
Neo Geo (cartridge)
Sega Saturn
Sega Saturn (v2 Japan, white)
N64
Playstation
Playstation (green test)
PSOne
Sega Dreamcast
Sega Dreamcast (Japan)
Sega Dreamcast (Sports, black)
PS2
PS2 (red Metreon exclusive)
Gamecube
Xbox

Portable:
Sega GameGear
Game Boy
Game Boy Color
Game Boy Advance
Game Boy SP
Sega Nomad
NeoGeo Pocket
Atari Lynx v2

Today I mostly run what I need for work, and don't really dig on many modern games... I play whats new and popular so I'm up-to-date on trends, but the love's not there like it used to be.  I keep my DC running, and use it for emulators - there are NES, Coleco, 2600, and other emus that run full speed, full sound that pretty much eliminate the need to fire up the old clunkers. I seriously recommend getting a DC if you don't have one already.
