QUESTION:  Why were the Pass TD points reduced from 6 to 3?

It seems to me that a Pass TD should get just as many points as a Rushing TD, since they both score the same number of points in the game.

I agree.  Touchdowns should always be weighted equally.

If you refer to Scott's very first post in this thread, you'll see it's always been set for 3 pts for passing TDs. I just pointed it out today that it was set at 6 in the league setup and he went and changed it.

I think 3 pts for a passing TD might be the more common way to score them in fantasy leagues. If they were 6 pts, they would make QBs way too high a scorer and the entire first round would instead be nothing but QBs taken.

Good point.  I'd make it 4 points though.  3 is a little low.

It was always 3 pts, I just had it wrong in the scoring section of the site

QB throws on average 25 TD's a year, WR and RB score 10-12 TD's a year it would throw a lot more points to QB's, this way its pretty much even


Here was a PPG average of the top 10 skill players last year in the league using this scoring:

Holmes, Priest 13.8
Green, Ahman 12.7
Tomlinson, LaDainian 12.4
Moss, Randy 9.7
Portis, Clinton 10.3
Culpepper, Daunte 10.6
Peyton Manning 8.8
Shaun Alexander 9.3
Jamal Lewis 8.8
Torry Holt 7.3

If TD passes were 6 instead of 3  Culpepper and Manning would have been #1 and #2 by about 30 points each and had 14-15 ppg

Its pretty even and as I've said I've been using this scoring for many years

Receiving TD's by backs, TE and WR are still 6 though if that's what you guys mean

I'd love to see TD passes get more points, but it's too late to change it now.  It would have most likely changed the drafting strategy for a lot of people.
