JD Fantasy Football 2004 - Preseason/Draft

I've never been in a Fantasy Hockey league, Football for around 15 years now, Baseball off and on for about the same, Basketball back in High School (Jordan, Barkley and Kemp on the same team...yahoo!!!)

If someone when the time comes wants to do both of them I'd be interested


It may be too late now but I was thinking yesterday that for prizes, we could all throw some toys into a booty chest and the winner of the league would collect said booty at the end of the year.  This is what we do over at the GH Survivor contest.  People throw in what they can (1-2 figures or more depending on how much stuff you want to get rid of)

We could do that here for the league if all 14 of us say yes, I don't feel right demanding it after the fact because its all for fun and if you don't want to throw something in you shouldn't feel obligated to...a simple yes or no would do and you can PM if you don't feel comfortable doing so in public

Also, I'd be down for a basketball league if anyone else is interested too.  To be honest I don't know squat about hockey.  I was in a league once I think, but didn't really change much and just preranked players that I knew.  Anyways, I think I might have a couple things I could throw in the "booty" for the football league here, if we decide to do that.

I'd be happy to contribute something for the winner.  Everyone need not, if they don't want to, as you indicated it was for fun only initially.  this just makes it more fun

Most hockey pools I've been in score pretty simply:

Goal 1 point
Assist 1 point
Goalie - win=2 pts; tie = 1 pt; shutout = 5 pts  assist or goal = 5 points

The only part I disagree with is the shutout part, it should be 3.  5 points makes the goalie the highest scoring player on most people's team.  3 is more realistic. 

I'd be in for basketball as well, though I imagine I would bitch and moan about traveling calls all year.

Hockey leagues are the ****!  I had 4 teams last year on Yahoo (the max they allow you.)  The guys at SportsPicksArena.com decided to do something different last season.  We did "The Whole Damn Team League" where each of us selected a team (ex. Detroit Red Wings) and that was our fantasy team for the season.  Really your entire season depended on how well that team did as a whole.  Someone beat me to taking Detroit (who finished 1st) so I took Ottawa and came in 2nd place. 

If there is no season, obviously we can't do fantasy hockey, so I'm down for a basketball league to help fill some of the void.
