How about a little love for my main man Rene Magritte:

I love lots of stuff from the Renaissance to Constructivism to Surrealism to Dada to Modernism to Post Modernism...etc...

Off the top of my mind I enjoy Rodchenko, Dali, Bosch, Duchamp, Bill Viola, Berninni, and about a thousand other painters, sculpters, photographers, filmmakers, etc...

forgot to add this website to my favorite artists:

patthompson.net/

pat is a friend of mine, a local artist here in new jersey who has done some work for my friend's band's cd. his artwork is a little on the crazy side, sometime downright disturbing... but he's a great artist, and a great guy. check out his site if you get a chance.

But there are some talented people out there amoung our own community who are also top shelf...Mister Bill Cable comes to mind.

I've just added my latest masterpiece up on http://CreatureCantina.com .  I'm really happy with how this one turned out, so I figured I'd share.   ;D

I've always been fasinated with Norman Rockwell and think he is one of my favorates. One my favorate paintings is of a man looking at a Jackson Pollick painting.

Contemporary wise, Alex Ross just blows me away. The Kingdom Come novel is just a masterpiece.

On a side note, I'm a Salvadore Dhali fan as well an nearly owned two original sketches. When I move into my current home, the previous occupants were in care of the sketches (owned by the woman who owned the house who had passed away, the occupants were relatives taking care of her) and were leaving a lot of stuff behind. I had asked the wife about them and not having any clue about them she said, sure you can have 'em. Unfortunately, her husdband wasn't as dim and nearly killed her when she ran it by him. :P

I've got a pair of woodcut's from Dali's Divine Comedy illustrations that Dali did.  They're from his workshop, printed off of his original woodcuts, by his students/apprentices, but are not one-of-a-kind paintings.  These two:

I've always been a huge Giger fan. I've slowly been working on purchasing his books over the years... And someday I'd like to get a piece of original artwork. Maybe after the SW line is done, and my disposable income can go elsewhere. :)
