I imagine the seller received quite a few complaints for not stating it as such.

Oh this is rich:

Quote
I was told it is a custom Vlix. MOC

This was brought up at RS last night, good detective work. Check out who sold it but also who bought it!

Custom Vintage Star Wars Droids Glasslite Vlix MOC

I also noticed that the original description was edited by the seller before it was ended, it was claimed to be a real carded Vlix. Definitely a scam artist.

Hey, fellas long time no post...

I am in the process of refinancing my home since it has a lot of equity in it.  Will have some funds to complete some loose holes in the collection.

What do you guys think of this auction?  This guy resides in my same town and I asked all the typical quesitons and asked if I could come down and look at the piece.

You probably can't tell much from the pics...

Hey Matt,
Nope, those pics aren't much help.
I'd love to see it beside a Ben cape for comparison and see if it matches too well.  Also can't see the texture differences at all.

The length looks right though, at least at the bottom and it doesn't look to be cut, or if it is it's cut pretty well.  The collar size looks ok too.

The arm holes look nice and tight from what I can see on it, so that may be a good sign.

I'll let the real experts decide though.  Getting a close up look to see/feel the texture and if you brought an Obi with you would give you a real good idea for color.  Good feedback on the seller too.  Good luck.

It's good that you can see it in person Matt that way you can get a really good look at the cape. Very hard to tell from those auction pics.  :-\

This should help you out: Vinyl Cape Jawa Figure & Cape

I can see the tear in the cape, I had one just like this from Germany a few years back & now Bob has it.

I'll shoot you a PM Matt, I have it written down what I paid for it.  ;)

Well...

I stopped at the store on the way home, I did not want to fight traffic and come home first so I have no pictures.

My verdict is that it is authentic...all the signs were there.

1) One side was textured (zipping sound) on the inside, the other side flat
2) Color
3) Size
4) Fit
5) Texture

Has anyone heard of a fake meeting criteria #1 and still being a fake or is that real determinator?

No dice on selling it early, which I respect.  So I'll come up with a dollar amount I'm willing to pay and keep my fingers crossed.  It's hard for me  to pay a premium and it not be minty mint.

I'm hopeful that it does not go too high as the pic's are not too detailed and the description is less to be desired.  If I did not see the figure up close I would not bid on it with such a vague description and average pictures.

Thanks guys for the info and I'll let you know if I win.

Just for kicks, what do you think the auction will end at?

Sounds real to me.  I'm not the right guy to ask though.

I think the way he's structured the auction, with the pics and relatively poor description you should be able to get a decent price, in the $150-175 range, which is still a bargain IMO.  My price was phenomenal and I totally lucked out it was real.

Well, it's out of the range I'm willing to pay for a ripped cape.  $183.50 with 20+ minutes to go.  If I spend more than that it would have to have the nob less jawa blaster and not have a ripped cape...

My wife was a bit dissapointed and offered to contribute but like I said I'd want the condition to be top notch.  The hunt for a vc jawa continues...
