I was pissed that Jimi Hendrix was marked under Black Sabbath... I think the only reason VH1 did that was to mark-out t Ozzy's new show... A few other things hit me as really lame...

Korn, Rage Against the Machine, The Doors, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, and a number of other groups really got the shaft on the list... Green Day was actually below Maryln Manson... Now who in god's name would put Manson above Green Day? Oh well, thoughts?

Is a group like Pink Floyd really considered "Hard Rock"? Seems a little strange to seem them grouped in with the likes of Metallica and Black Sabbath.

Well is it VH1. They've never played hard rock videos anyway, have they? Would only stand to reason their list would be so out of whack.

Nirvana is way to high, and how can they list them and SOundgarden and not Pearl Jam or Alice in Chains???  No way would Ozzy rate that high by himself if not for his recent TV show and I also agree on some bands being called hard rock...

I also personally can't stand AC/DC but that is just me ;)

Its actually a top 100 list.  And I believe it originally aired before The Osbornes hit TV.  I also think that the list was derived from picks by artists.  Every artist would do his list and the votes would be tallied based on how many lists the artist was on.

I actually have no problem with the top 5.  I knew Zeppelin, ACDC, Metallica and Black Sabbath would be in the top 5 and Zeppelin would be #1 (There's no way they couldn't be, they've influenced way too many people)

Without checking the list Scott, I believe AIC was ranked somewhere around 35.

I also think the term "hard rock" is taken a little loosely in this list.  It encompasses everything from punk (The Clash, Sex Pistols, etc) to heavy metal (Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc) to "hair bands" (Crue).
Common sense isn't so common

The sad thing is 14 of the top 20 bands are now defunct  :'(
And the original lineup of the Mighty VH certainly deserves to rank ahead of Metallica and maybe even Nirvana and AC/DC.  Can't really argue with the top 3 though.

Put the crack pipe away- VH? Come on!
and actually VH was a better band w/Sammy(but I do like DLR's stuff better)!
Metallica totally got shafted- they are way better than AC-DC and actually better than Black Sabbath- Ozzy as a solo artist was way better than Sabbath- who took a nose dive when Dio came onboard- and based on the topic- HARD ROCK may even give Jimi and Led Zep a solid run- No they aint better but in terms of hard rock- Face it they are!
Zep and Jimi are more blues influensed and really that stuff shouldnt be counted.

Here's my list- based on HARD ROCK(not overall musicanship)
1-Led Zepplin
2-Metallica
3-Jimi Hendrix
4-Ozzy Osbourne
5-AC-DC
6-Van Halen
7-Guns n Roses
8-Aerosmith
9-The Who
10- Black Sabbath
11-Nirvana
12-KISS
13-Alice in Chains
14-Pearl Jam
15-The Sex Pistols
16-Motley Crue
17-The Ramones
18-Queen
19-Cream
20-Alice Cooper

Well, if you ask me, Jimi and Zep are at the top of all the list variants of Rock, and I'd throw Jimi up there on the top of Blues as well, right along with Smokey/etc.
