Not on the list, but from September 16th, Monty Python's Holy Grail.  It is priced at an outrageous $48 here.  Is it similarly high in the US?  If not, I'll try and pick it up when I'm in Cincinatti in October.

Welcome back :-*

Oh, I'll put some cream in that coffee for you, all right.

Major if you're living in 1988, maybe.

As far as I know, Brent, that's just a "deluxe" version of the two-disc special edition which came out two years ago.  I think it's in some fancy box with the screenplay, and maybe some other junk, but as far as anyone knows, the DVD is the same, content-wise, as the current one.

I'll do some lookin' and find out exactly what the deal is.

Okay--according to Amazon--the only things that the "new" version of Holy Grail has over the old one are a "paperback of the script" and an "exclusive film cel senitype" (like the filmstrips that were included with the widescreen VHS of Phantom Menace in 2000).

Here's the cover of the old:

And the new:

Now, if the script and the filmstrip are worth the difference to you, then go nuts.

I normally use videoeta.com. They include a ton of indie releases, and stuff that you may think that other people aren't interested in and the like.

Twin Peaks: Season 1 is out 9/24

Theres a Wes Craven Collection due 10/7 that includes
Shocker, People Under the Stairs, and the Serpent and the Rainbow.

Then there is of course the John Carpenter Collection featuring The Thing, Prince of Darkness, and They Live. They Live being the biggie. Of course all these will be sold seperately.

Somewhere in the mix, Transformers Season 2, The Incredible Hulk TV Series, and a Gremlins Trilogy are due in a months time as well.

Hey Newbie goof!   ::)   :P   :-*

Tossed a little explanation into your previous thread, along with a link over here to your new one Virex...   :-*

I was glad to have caught that Top Gun Special Edition for 2004 a few days ago, as I was about to pick up the regular version at Best Buy this weekend in that big "3 for $30" sale they were running.  I'll just have to wait a little longer, but hopefully they'll make it worth it come next year!

I also have to transfer MikeyD's Pirates of the Caribbean cover art over here into the new thread, as this is just too cool!  I think the Mrs. and I might go watch the real thing in theaters again today, just 'cause we enjoyed it so much, and I'd like to get that "theater experience" with it just once more...

Uh...  Brent?  You been hitting the bottle a little harder than usual tonight or sumthin'...?  Might want to give your post a little proofread there.  You're all over the place on that one!

So Patty and I caught Pirates again yesterday, and I gotta say that I just love this movie.  One of my absolute favorites!  Any word on potential deleted scenes or anything like that in the DVD release?

I assume that this Battlestar Galactica series set doesn't include the original TV movie, right?  Also, can't quite recall right now, but did BG only run for just one season, and therefore this set is the whole shebang?  Or was there a second season as well?  ...and I'm not talking about that revised Galactica '80, or whatever that crap was!   :P  Just the original.

Its a two discer, so its probably a safe assumption there's going to be deleted scenes on it.  Here's hoping.  I'm like you, I loved this movie.  IMO, the second best movie of the summer - X2 being the first (although if I wasn't a huge comic book geek, Pirates may have taken the top spot)

Well, I don't know anything about Battlestar Galactica, so here's a report from The Digital Bits about the new DVDs:

Quote
Universal has announced the DVD release of Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Epic Series as a 6-disc box set for release on 10/21 (SRP $119.98). All 24 episodes of the series are being presented in the original full frame video (digitally remastered for superior quality) and in their original broadcast order, with audio available in the original 2.0 mono as well as newly remixed Dolby Digital 5.1. The set will include never-before-seen footage, along with new interviews with series creator Glen A. Larson and series stars' Richard Hatch, Terry Carter and Anne Lockhart.

As if that wasn't enough, Battlestar Galactica: The Original Feature Film is also being re-released on DVD the same day (SRP $19.98). It will also include a sneak preview of the new Sci-Fi mini-series retelling of the film's story. Sadly, it looks suspiciously like this will be the same non-anamorphic widescreen film transfer as before, but we've not yet been able to confirm this.
