I can't believe the world isn't ablaze with excitement since DC Cab was announced for DVD release in March.

Mr. T is rad.

This is the first I've heard - I'll pick that up though when it comes out.

Final haul for the week:

Pirates of the Caribbean
Se7en (trading in my old version...)
Shrek 2
Ali G - Da Movie
Dr. Strangelove 40th Anniversary edition.

I'm going to try to take it easy next week.  I might buy Zatoichi - don't know yet.

As I understand it, the DVD of the original Ju-on that's coming out on Tuesday has been cut short.

Does anyone know if this is true?  And if so, cut short by how much?

My friend insists this is the case - but he also said the same thing about the American release of The Eye but when I checked his foreign copy it was the exact same length.

Jokabofe??  Anyone??

Haven't heard anything about that. And to be honest, I picked it up last friday (gotta love working in the video store sometimes  ;D ) and have watched it 3 times already - it actually has more footage than the "bootleg" copy I had. And it has some - not much, but some - special features, including the Sam Raimi commentary and a few interviews that were interesting. It's a great movie - I would say one of the scariest films I've ever seen, right behind The Exorcist - and I would recommend it.

It's one of my favorites too.  I want to pick it up but not if ordering an all-region copy could get me an extra ten minutes of footage though...

I'll try to look online and post anything I find out here...

What did you think of the remake?  I liked it - a lot.  Especially given it was mostly the same movie but a little easier to follow and with better audio.

Yeah, I was actually impressed with the remake. I guess using the same director pays off, especially since this is essentially the third time he's made the same film :)

I'm also a huge fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar from back in the Buffy days (yeah, yeah, I know... so shoot me), so it didn't hurt that she was in the film as well. It will be interesting to see if he remakes the second part for American audiences. I'd like to see him do it, because I thought both films (or all 4 films if you want) were all really good. They fell into the same trap as every other film and it's sequels, where the sequels aren't quite as good, but I still enjoyed all of them. Keep us/me posted on what you find out about the foreign copies of the disc for Ju-on, because if there is a copy out there with additional footage on it, I need - need, not want - need to own it.

Here's some pretty good info on the different versions available. I gave it a quick look, and didn't see anything listed about various differences available in other countries, but then again most of the links to the other sites aren't in English.  Most of them say the runtime listed as 92 minutes, although this page has it listed as 92/94 down at the bottom, whatever that means.

Too bad some of the other recent remakes weren't as good - i.e. Dawn of the Dead, Texas Chainsaw, etc. They were okay movies, but they just didn't stand up to the originals, in my opinion. But of course, I own all the dvd's anyway :)

Also picked up this little precious gem today, not because it's a good movie, but:

Keira Knightley...

Nekid.

Thank you, God.

Meh. I wasn't impressed.

Meh. I wasn't impressed.

Movie is boring, but I'll take whatever tidbits (heheh) that are on offer. She's hot in a way that makes Natalie Portman ugly. She's my favorite new skinny chick. Hot.

Did anyone pick up either Before Sunset or the 4-Disc Gone with the Wind? I got cold feet tonight at Best Buy and walked out without them. Bought Shrek 2 finally, like a good little brainwashed consumer.
