Republic Commando
« on: November 26, 2004, 05:01 AM »
I can't recall the subtitle of the book, I jsut know it's a book to accompany the release of the Republic Commando game.
I was wondering if anyone has read it yet, i have seen it on shelves and almost picked it up, but was unsure about it. I don't want to get myself into a book along the likes of NJo rubbish.

If anyone reads it, drop one.

I might pick this up eventually. Once you finish it up, let us know what you think overall.

It mainly focuses on the Clone Commandoes and how they operate, how they thinka nd were trained. It's mopre of a military operation story, Jedi are involved, some battle droids and a mandalorian mercenary. No main characters are featured in it, which isn't exactly a bad thing either. Hmm The climax could have been a little better, as there was a ton of buildup.
BLA BLA BLA

well overall I enjoyed it and reccomend it, especially if you like clone troopers and the likes.

I quite enjoyed Republic Commando, my favorite book so far, Shatter Point being a close second.

The characters are well defined, the tactics and lingo are very accurate reality wise, but in a Star Wars universe.

I also liked the bad guy as he is a Mandalorian.  I was very interested in his mindset, thoughts and interactions towards the Clone Troopers.

Anthing Clone Trooper is cool in my book, and the author Karen Traviss does a superb job giving CT's a human face behind those helmets.  They fight, bleed, hurt, and die, something we dont get to see at the "video game"  type battle of AOTC.

Short but sweet, 9.5. :)

I'm almost done with Shatterpoint, so I've been looking for Republic Commando - dang this thing is hard to find! I looked in Barnes and Nobles in Atlanta, and Birmingham, and didn't find it. It's not at Books-A-Million. It's not at any of the half dozen or so Wal-Marts I've visited...

Why is Commando so dang hard to find?

Don't ask why I don't just use Amazon.com...  ::)

This book I really enjoyed lots of action and you get an inside look at life as a clone.  Even though they all look the same they are different on the inside and that military aspect of the writting was great too.  I would give it 4 out of 5 defiently read it it's good.

 WOOT!

Karen Traviss, Author of "Hard Contact" says that her sequel: "Triple Zero" will be a really long book. I quote from her: "It's so big you can use it as a coffee table"

A new book from Karen Traviss in the Republic Commando Series announced: True Colors

from SW.com

In the Grand Army's desperate fight to crush the Separatists, the secret special ops missions of its elite clone warriors have never been more critical... or more dangerous. A growing menace threatens Republic victory, and the members of Omega Squad make a discovery that shakes their loyalty.

As the lines continue to blur between friend and enemy, citizens -- from civilians and sergeants to Jedi and generals -- find themselves up against a new foe: the doubt in their hearts and minds. The truth is a fragile, shifting illusion -- and only the approaching inferno will reveal both sides in their true colors.
