I assume you rented it? If so, where from? I'm going to Hollywood Video. Fat chance they'll have it, but I'd like ot give this one a whirl.

well, i don't believe it's out in the u.s. yet, so i had to get it by slightly illegal means... didn't rent it over in the store. i'm sure blockbuster will never get this one. lately, the selection over in blockbuster sucks, and even when they get movies, they are always rented out. don't know why tehy don't get movies like this, but they just don't.  ;D

Illegal is a sick bird!  :P  Well up here, we can only get things done a certain way but from what I have heard its practically the same. Up here in the north, blockbuster can have low amounts of new flicks to rent, over stocked with crappy flicks and nothing to really look at. I don't understand why they do that.  ;D

yeah, blockbuster really isn't the greatest place to get movies. on the other hand, i really rally like netflix. it's e-commerce at it's finest. nothing could be easier, since it's all done by mail. talk about easy: rent a movie, comes to your mailbox, watch it, put it back in the mailbox. way better than blockbuster.

Yep, pretty sweet I must say. I find this method a very usefull way to get things done. Once in awhile you have to run & run around in circles till you find what you are looking for. Even if you find it it may not be what it should be. Nine out of ten times, they do work. Sweet!   ;D

The Butterfly Effect

Yup, went and saw the movie.  Ashton Kucher movie, so not sure what I was getting into, but the preview caught my eye at ROTK.

I think it's worth the money and is in some respects quite disturbing.  Certainly a new concept to me though probably familiar in many respects.  Kucher does a good job of acting in it.  Later on the premise becomes rather repetetive, but that's not to say they don't get a few jolts out of you and there aren't a few surprises in it.

There is a point where I lost faith in a good portion of the human race though.  This  is in no way a comedy and at one point something fairly tragic happens to Kucher's character (specifically rather than tangentially, this is not a happy movie).  About 2/3 of the audience laughed at something that was not even remotely humourous, either in intent or presentation.  Holy crap people, grow up and develop some compassion.

Usual comments about wanting to beat the snot out of people thinking they are in their own living room apply.

There's no hurry to see this in the theater but it is worth seeing at one point or another.  Not Oscar material IMO but I didn't feel bad paying $8 to see it.

As stated on RS, I loved it. It's unfortunate that people will skip on it because of Ashton Kutcher. To me, in this movie, he shown some range.

It is indeed a raw, dark, and pretty Un-PC movie. It's more along the lines of "Se7en", "Requiem for a Dream", and "12 Monkeys", so be warned.

It was a very good movie, and yet very sad at parts,I'd give it a 10 out of 10 rating.

It's the kind of movie where you can't help feeling bad for the people in it.

Mixed emotions about this movie -

Mild Spoilers

Alot of things confused me, or at least, I felt confused somewhat. I wasn't sitting there trying to figure out what was going on, it wasn't that hard to follow - but certain things just didn't feel right. Through half of the movie I thought the obese spiked hair dude was also the chubby little boy in Ashton's childhood, I also didn't understand why Ashton didn't go running for the girl at the very end. (Shrug).

The audience did laugh at some parts of the movie that shouldn't have been funny (child porn and incest only spells funny on the Jerry Springer show). I laughed at the scene where Ashton is running into the doctor's office, though.

This movie is proof that Ashton can act. However, it is also proof that he cannot run.
