Collateral was the last Tom Cruise movie I enjoyed.

I'm sure a lot of folks would agree with me...he used to be one of my favorite actors until you know what happened.

MI:2? ;)

I saw it this weekend and liked it a lot, didn't love it but thought overall it was well done. Very much a Michael Mann film.

One thing I took away from the film, don't be on the business end of a  .50 Cal rifle. BOOM!!!

I'll let that Jay Z/Linkin Park comment slide.

For now.

Much love.

I don't mind the song but it's a little too "mainstream" for a Michael Mann film, no?

I thought Miami Vice was an odd choice for Micheal Mann until I learned recently that he was one of the creators of the TV show. Makes perfect sence now.

Okay, I saw Miami Vice and liked it. It's definately style over substance, but there's something about Mann's style that just works for me.

I saw The Descent, and was really underwhelmed.  I saw it based on the glowing reviews, and it really didn't hold up.  They were talking about "haunting images," but I didn't see anything slightly memorable.  They talked about the great monsters, but they were actually pretty laughable.  I was expecting gore like Saw, but it turned out to be really tame.  And they talked about these 6 unbelievably hot women on a caving trip, but to my tastes there was really only one attractive one in the lot.  It was $8 wasted.

Is anyone bothered by the fact that there is already a movie about the twin towers?

I'd like to hear some thoughts on the subject...without getting political.

I'm torn on this.  I've heard that the film has a "feel-good" ending (is there such a thing where this is concerned?) -- but September 11th is such a sacred thing for so many, even a well done commercial film runs the risk of cheapening what happened that day.  I feel like it is too soon -- and today's headlines "Britain Foils Plot to Bomb US Bound Planes" shows that this is an ongoing reality.

I wasn't aware that there was already a Twin Towers film.  My wife, however, saw the Oliver Stone one Tuesday. Like United 93, it left the politics out and concentrated on the heroes of the day. She loved it, said it was well made, very emotional and very uplifting despite the horrible event, but she's not going to run out and see it again. She was wondering if it was too soon as well, but she had read a review that said that for our generation, there will be no good time to make any films on the subject. You're either ready individually or not.

For crying out loud, Anthony! ::)

The movie only made like $340 million dollars, how could you have never ever heard of it!

Uh....  Oh, you said "Twin Towers", not Two Towers.  Sorry, my mistake.

About World Trade Center...

I am one of those people that think it's not "too soon" to watch and remember the events of 9-11-01. Too often we hear about how we as a nation are selfish, so it's moving to see a film (like United 93) which recognizes individuals that selflessly risk their lives for people they don't know, regardless of the outcome.

I feel the subject is too 'sacred' to make a movie about.   Kind of like Pearl Harbor.

On top of that, some big movie company (and Hollywood superstar(s)) is making money off of it - to me, that's just not right.

From the WTC official movie Site:

Four New York charitiable organizations will be the recipients of donations from the release of the upcoming film 'World Trade Center.'

The charities will receive 10 percent of all ticket sales in every theater across the US - more than 2000 - for the film's opening five days, 8/9 through 8/13.

50% of the total donation will go to the WTC Memorial Foundation.

Obviously the studio and actors will "make money", but they are also giving back – and there's nothing wrong with that.
