Wow, dude jumped off a bridge.

Always a surpise to see someone so successful choose to go out like that. Maybe he had health issues?

Apparently the suicide note says he was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer.

I care about Phyllis Diller. We were very sad about that in our house.

Now nobody cares about Neil Armstrong...  Guess he needed the Scooby Doo bump.

Everyone acts like the space program had huge popular support amongst the U.S. public. But it did not. We fortunate that Cold War was going on and the government pushed the Apollo Program as much as they did. Left up to an actual popular vote, Armstrong probably wouldn't have made history.

I think it's criminal that we were unable to return to the moon (or go further into space) in Neil Armstrong's lifetime.
This is the way.

I have spoken.

If you listen to Neil Armstrong's moon landing transcripts, they were actually warned off from landing. The Aliens wouldn't let us do more landings. He talks about seeing spaceships lined up outside a moon base. Theory is that Apollo 13 has actually shot down by aliens because it was doing a recon mission.

It's not that we were unable, it's that NASA and the government realized there wasn't much more to do there.  Although, that seems to be changing now with the ideas floating around about a permanent installation for research and to act as a launching point for longer distance missions.

I think it's criminal that we pretended to actually go there.   ;)
