Charles Durning also passed at 89.

Also Gerry Anderson the creator of Thunderbirds passed at age 83. His shows started my collecting career/habit back in the 60's. Still been collecting his stuff & my Space 1999 collection has grown much bigger this past yr.  Gerry will be missed!   :'(

RIP, Klug-Man...you could learn everything you needed to know about being a man by watching Quincy ME.

Charles Durning had so many great roles too, I can't even pick one out.

I thought Harry Carey was a baseball announcer and had died years ago?

Harry Carey Jr. was a character actor notable for appearing in many westerns as far back as the 1940's and as recently as the mid 1990's. No relation to the announcer, he was the son of another actor.

The problem with America is stupidity I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself

Roger Ebert, dead at 70

Poor guy, he had a terrible run of health problems over the last several years.  I saw him at a film festival here a few years ago and he was barely recognizable.

Mixed feeling about Ebert. His reviews were more interesting that many because he was intellectual enough to really critique film but enough of a movie fan to not be too snobby. The downside is that with their t.v. show, he and Siskel reduced criticism to simple yes or no (thumbs up or down) with no middle ground.  Nowdays everyone's a critic. Me, I find it hard to recommend movies to people I know because most people have narrow tastes in what they like.

I'll miss Ebert.  I saw this video of him and Gene Siskel debating the merits of the Star Wars films.  Funny how many "critics" of the films sound like this old fuddy duddy:
