OK, here we go.  It's been a wild year - I've always been a carded collector and had about 75% of the basic figures up to OTC.  Then we decided to renovate the basement and I expanded my Star Wars display area and suddenly wanted a loose collection as well.

Here's what happens when you lose control.   ;) :-[ :D :'(

$12,160.16 or $15,106.89CDN.

I am hoping to stick to my $100 a month budget again this year, but I may have to end up selling some stuff to stick to that budget thanks to Celebration 3 and RotS pile-up of goods...

Well, well, well...  My target Budget for 2005 was $1200 out-of-pocket.  What that meant was that I could spend more than $1200 if I needed, but only if I sold some stuff and used that cash to go over the budget.

How did I do?  Not so good...  :-[

Actual "Out-of-Pocket" Expenses for 2005 = $2354.81   :(

OK, so I actually spent a bit more than that, but I sold off some stuff I bought so that lowered the total back down a bit.

I think that if I had skipped the trip to C3 and skipped the Kubricks for 2005, I would have been fine... of course the Kubricks and C3 were probably my two favorite things from this year, so I'm glad I blew my budget for them!   ;)

Once again, I am extremely happy that I manage to skip a lot of the "other" lines.  If I were collecting GG busts, bust-ups, MR stuff, Sideshow, etc etc I'm sure I'd rank right up there with the rest of the high-rollers.   :P

I just out and out gave up keeping track.  I think I was probably lower than the preceding year, but still pretty high.  Not Jesse high, but perhaps the 5-7K range this year.

I was saved by a lot of items not arriving in 2005 so I was never charged on them:
MR Shock Trooper Helmet
Sideshow Vader
Sideshow Ben (though I think this was always 2006)

Other items I paid for and I nervously await:
MR Special Ops helmet.

Being mostly done vintage saved a lot of cash, as did not chasing McFarlane stuff nearly so hard.  C3 was a bit pricey, but worth every penny to get to meet so many of the good people that I've met at this site.  And to get my picture with Phil ;D

I'm opting/hoping to scale back a fair bit for 2006 now that ROTS is pretty much done.  We'll see what Hasbro pumps out for the year.  But I think I'll continue on with the vintage stuff as well, moving into boxed vehicles and the like.  Time will tell.

yeah I think Jesse has taken the cake, ouch!

even in this movie year I hadn't expected to have spent so much, but over 1/3 of my spending went to vintage and C3 so I guess I'm a bit skewed. thankfully it looks like there will be a lot of rehashing for 06 so I can save there and work on buying more vintage.

Well my year end total came out to $1423.93. Not bad I'd say, although it was the first year I started buying a majority of the figures put out, as well as the first year I tried to keep track of what I spent.

Epilouge: Wow, what a crazy year 2005 was! Great in terms of collecting, not so great in terms of personal events. I know that if certain things hadn't happened during the course of this year, that the totals would have been higher. Nevertheless, here are the results...

Created on January 2nd at 11:58 PM and finalized for posting at 12:13 AM on January 3rd 2005

Annual Total: $1754.55
Exluding Tax: N/A
Annual Total Exculding Shipping: $1714.60
Annual Star Wars: $1471.63
Annual Other: $282.92

Estimated price tag for year: $4000
Final out come: $1754.55 ($3754.55 including total cost of Celebration III stuff)
Departure from estimate: $2245.45

Departure from previous years: 600.44 (2004)... +$1154.11

Margine of error: Anywhere from $10-15

Last Wave found: VOTC ROTJ at Wal-Mar (Demeber 27, 2004)...Saga Collection Pit of Carcoon Wave at Wal-Mart (December 29, 2005)

I actually kept tracked, but stop posting monthly totals around the middle of the year.

Without listing everything I bought, here's my totals:

Star Wars - $1,914.45
Other (Marvel Legends, Sportspicks, etc.) - $515.53
Grand Total - $2,429.98

Common sense isn't so common

I kept fairly close track of things, but stopped posting monthly as well after I was getting shocked/depressed with what I was spending.  Although considerably less than some, it was definitely more than it should be for our budget, and I cut back considerably the last 1/4 of the year.  I'm shooting for about half of this total for next year, or lower, if I can.  Time to condense.

Star Wars - Approx. $1100
Other (Marvel/DC) Approx. $280

Approx. Total for 2005 - $1380.00

jadesfire - $5488.46

Nope, sorry, you win/lose Jesse, hands down.  Unless Adam is around still and doing even wackier things than last year.  I'm sure Dale is up close as well, but probably below Dave.  I'd guess I came in behind Dave as well and possibly lower than Dale as well.  I like the number that Mikey/Jeff have, that's a nice goal.  Sadly for us it's not too likely, even if we bought the exact same stuff it would cost us considerably more.   :-\

No idea as I never kept track this year but if I was to take a guess it would not be as high as it was last year.

Last year was $11839.78 CDN or approx $9,858 as Matt calculated it for me.  :P

Anywhere around the $6000.-$8000. US mark but unsure.  :-\

Definitely not has high as Jesse's.  ;D

That's about what I was thinking too, fair bit of Kubricks, vintage and some higher end stuff, so the total was higher.  But I'd guess I was lower than the previous year, so that's an improvement.  I'll try and get it below $5K this year :P
