Defender Wish Lists 2005: The Phantom Menace
« on: January 7, 2005, 09:07 AM »

Some time ago we ran an informal poll with your 10 most wanted characters from the current 5 Star Wars Films.  With the DVD release, an OT heavy year in 2004 and most of the plans done until Episode III, I thought it would be a good time to revisit those lists. Here's how it works: You send your Wish List for 10[/i] 3 3/4" Figures to me or post them here, be it new figures, resculpts or even re-releases and I'll tally the votes.  After four weeks of list taking I'll publish the results and we will move on to the next movie.  The first Prequel Episode I:The Phantom Menace is on the clock.   If you need help coming up with names check out the Official Sites Databank:  Episode I.  Have fun and thanks for sending in your lists (remember to limit it to ten)!

Also check out Red6's archive for the very obscurest of the obscure for more choices...

Here's a little write up I did for the 3 Padme's last year, I sure want them to eventually make them.  The sad thing is, there are still 8 Episode II Padmes to do and then like 10 more Episode III one

Amidala Travel Gown

One of the few figures to be made as a 12" figure and not in the 3-3/4" line.  This lush purple gown was worn aboard the Royal Starship as the Jedi and Panaka are discussing where to land the Starship for repair.  Also note that she also wears this gown to Qui Gon's funeral.  There is a good chance this one might get made eventually, especially since they made the 12" Figure.

Amidala Pre-Senate Gown

Worn while in the offices of Senator Palpatine, this gown is very ornamental in nature.  A nice nod to the kamino style dresses of Japan!  Not seen for very long, this figure is a real long shot.

Amidala Post-Senate Gown

After her Senate speech, Amidala confides to Jar Jar that she is unsure of what will happen on Naboo. She is dissapointed in the political machine that is the Senate.  This gown is seen when she greets Palpatine on his return to Naboo after the defeat of the Trade Federation.  Another good choice for a figure, one that represents multiple scenes.

I'm almost there too Jim, other than the 3 Padme's, Graga and Kitster/Wald I don't really really really need any more Episode I figures.  PodRacers would be OK and I'd buy them but for the most part, I hate their appearance, concpetion and design, I'd love SA Maul and Jedi though too but  I won't be mad if they never make them

Oh lord...  I will be lucky to even name 10 characters from TPM. :)

OK, my top 10...

1) Super Art. Darth Maul...  Break-apart saber with removable blades, and cloth Tatooine Cloak, of course.  If he pops apart at the waist, more the better.

2) Super Art. Qui-Gon Jinn...  Maybe they can get his likeness right this time.  Cloth Jedi cloak would be nice too, and a hilt for on his belt.

3) Super Art. Obi-Wan...  More the same as above.  Maybe this one's headsculpt will be nice as well.

4) Super Art. Naboo Soldier...  Yes, I asked for it.  A Naboo Soldier resculpt with SA, and a removable hat.  Head variants would rock as well.

5) Super Art. Capt. Panaka...  Captain Panaka resculpt with removable hat.  A head variant or two would be real nice as well.

6) Super Art. Naboo Royal Security...  The red armored dudes...  Head variants.  Reuse the E1 figure's helmet even.

7) Gragra/Swokes Swokes...  Love this thing.  Wanted the Pez dispenser even because it looked so good with the figures.

8 ) Generic Naboo Pilot...  With the trench coat, and removable helmet.

9) R5 Unit...  Either Jabba's or one of the Queen's, but I want an R5 unit somewhere.

10) Ithorian Senator...  Just because I can't think of much else.

BTW, I'd take any way to get the Eopie out because I don't have that either, and woudl like a couple actually.  I wanted to not go for Deluxe on my top 10 though, but that is definitely a good candidate to re-release somehow.

How can you have head variants on Capt. Panaka? That's like saying make a Darth Maul with head variants  :P

Anyhow, I'm fine with the Episode 1 figures I have already. I don't want anymore. Although I wouldn't be too pissed if they just re-issued some of the harder to find ones.

I've been waiting for this one.   :)  Here we go:

1) Ratts Tyrell & Family.  The last cool aliens.

2) Pre-Senate Padme.  I've wanted this since 1998.

3) SA Obi Wan Kenobi w/ optional swimming gear.

4) SA Darth Maul w/ all the cool stuff Jesse mentioned.

5) SA Qui Gon w/ optional poncho.

6) Handmaiden Padme.  Because Rabe just doesn't cut it.

7) Return to Naboo Padme.  Let's run the table.

8) Little Federation droids in the background 2 pack

9) Generic Naboo pilot w/ trenchcoat.  Great idea Jesse.  I've always wanted one of these, too.

10) Holographic Darth Maul - because the one I bought for 50 cents at WM years ago still SUCKS.

1. SA Obi-Wan with robe and interchangalbe heads-- one regular, one in action, and one wet. Also, lit and unlit sabers, with ability to stick the unlit one on the belt. Also, that crazy air thing too. Interchangeable hands for Force push.

2. SA Qui-Gon with robe, plus lit and unlit sabers. Two heads-- one dry, one wet, plus air thingy. Maybe interchangeable hands, for that cool Force push pose.

3. SA Anakin Skywalker with interchangeable Naboo pilot and podracing helmets.
Backpack also a requirement.

4. SA Darth Maul with three sabers- one with both ends lit, one battle damaged, and one not lit. NO split at waist. Interchangeable heads-- one cool, one angry. Cloth cloak for a Tatooine version.

5. Padme in Pre-Senate Gown. Long overdue.

6. Return to Naboo Padme. See #5.

7. SA Padme in the purple outfit, with Naboo blasters and ascension gun.

8. Kitster/ Wald two-pack. Also long overdue.

9. SA Naboo guards. Either one's cool with me.

10. SA Watto with a paint job that doesn't suck, plus two sets of wings-- one like the first figure, other like AOTC Watto.
don't you know there ain't no devil, there's just God when he's drunk
