Good luck in snatching one of those folks.  Hope they don't start releasing them to the general public for those that pay that amount of money.  Could you imagine that?  Say Hasbro releases this thing on the official website and anyone can get the same thing.  Wow! I'm impressed.

$1000 is just unbelievable.  Granted, it is a cool collectible, and I'd like to have one too, but like Jeff mentioned, I would never spend that money on something like that unless I won the lottery or something.  I think I'd have a tough time not selling it too, if I could get $1000 for something I got for free.  It would be neat to keep and have, but $1000 can buy a lot of stuff :).

Yeah, "complete" is all in the eye of the beholder.  Obviously this would probably not even fall under the "needs" list of most carded completists.  But if you get into the "packaging completists", including the real sickos like Jared and I, then yeah, it'd unfortunately be a part of the greater whole to us.  It's rather like some other exclusives like the Mexican Convention Encuentras 2-pack, and things like that.  Not a part of the "regular line intended for retail consumers", but there is a figure in a unique type of packaging there, so it warrants hitting our radar.

I totally can relate to what Matt is saying here - it all comes down to how you define "complete" with regards to what you collect. Personally, I'm like Matt as well, where I view things like the Mexican and German convention pieces as unique packaging items that I need regardless of the fact that the figures inside are the same as their individually carded counterparts.

The hard part for me sometimes is having to resign myself to never being able to get a certain item and just "letting go" of any angst associated with not having it in my collection. OCD is such a wonderful combination with action figure collecting!  ;D

Man, that is just unreal.  I definitely think I would consider selling one if I had one.  It would be neat to have, but that could fund my collecting for a loooong time ;).

I think Dave should get an Acrylic case from Oscar just to protect his little baby.  ;)

Wow - those auctions are just absolutely unreal.

I don't know what I would do if I had one... while the temptation to give into the "dark side" and sell it would be there, I think I would resist it and get someone to make me an acryllic case for it so I could have it on display and not worry about it getting damaged.

As cool as these are, I don't think I could resist selling it knowing I could have a cool $3000 sitting in my pocket.

Of course, the ethics of selling it for that price?  Well, that's a whole other story.  Or does that even matter?  All the extra toys that I could buy might help soothe my conscience.   ;)

I think Dave should sell his and he's nuts if he doesn't.  I'm sorry, but $3K for nada?  Who the hell cares?

If I had one and they're fetching $3000, you can bet your ass I'd sell mine.

I could put a hell of a down payment on a car or house with that.
