You know what just occurred to me? The picture of the carded Lava Reflection Vader on the Hasbro website (and what was previously floating around) is NOT correct - unless there is a backer inside the bubble and the helmet card is separate - if you look at the surfacing packaging shots, you will see that the card does not have the helmet shape - instead it is the regular rectangular card with a rounded top.

Odd...

What are the chances that this sucker will show up at the Fanclub later on?  Remember the original Toyfair Vader?  Hasbro hopefully will rethink this after the release.

Thing is this:

1) This IS ToyFair Vader only in Red Metallic as opposed to Silver Metallic!

2) Not on your life - if you don't get this on the 2nd, head to eBay. If you're patient - wait a bit it MAY drop off like Jorg Sacul did.

If today has made ANYTHING obvious, Hasbro is NOT THINKING - period. The Holo Yoda which is the best (IMHO) of the batch of the exclusives won't be there on the 2nd. The "Early Bird" kit promo is (again IMHO) lame and the Target one is going on like living in a policed state.

Hasbro shouldn't be allowing ANY of this to be going on! and if they were actually THINKING, it wouldn't be...  >:(

Yeah Pete, I noticed that as well...  but I def think there is a backer card packed with the clamshell.

I couldn't agree more that Hasbro didn't put an ounce of thought into these exclusives. They're obviously solely designed to appease the big-box buyers short-term. This is one of those times when I'm reminded in blunt fashion that this is a business enterprise first and foremost, and being a completist collector of mass-market toys isn't always going to be fun. I'm certainly not having any fun at the moment.

As a consumer, I should be walking away from the April 2nd product launch with the notion that ROTS is the best thing ever and be pumped for more product and the movie. Instead, I'm already going into it thinking this is the last-hurrah for the licensees, Hasbro, and retailers, and they will stop at nothing to milk every drop of revenue out of the launch as they can. It's soulless and commercial like never before. At least the other launches let me enjoy being involved in the crass mass-market commercialism. This time I just feel taken advantage of, like some Star Wars addicted whore.

Way to go, Hasbro! Thanks, Target!

Haven't made the lame comment in days: be happy you're in the US.

No Target in Canada + restrictive purchasing rules = ebay as the option.  I'm reduced to hoping for a price in the range of $20-25 for this thing and hoping I luck into the ebay seller that gives a **** about packing.

The rules for obtaining this are absurd.  50,000 is a decent production run, 5x that of TFV so hopefully that math works as well, down around 1/5 of the price, but that's still potentially $40 ::)

I got the Lava Vader coupon/add thing in the mail today. Came with a $1 off EVERY figure you buy on 4/2 coupon. Probably old news, but I think I'll go to Target on 4/2.

Well I went to the target site and signed to hopefully win a free one. Maybe it'll happen, maybe not - no loss in trying.  :-\

Fella over at RS is saying the ROTS figures are going on sale for $4.99 the very next day, for the rest of the week.  Kinda renders the coupon pointless, other than the obvious issue of timing for the "impatient" folks that need to have everything on 4/2 (like me  :P)

It will help me to not feel like I'm in such a rush to get everything at Target on that first day now though, so that's somewhat relieving to know at least...

Yeah, you get your pick of Mon Mothma after 4/2.  Just joking of course.  Actually that could turn out to be the truth.

Well, if you buy the new figures on 4/2 and they go on sale at Target later (within 14 days), you can always go to Customer Service and get a price adjustment.   :)

AND, even if the sale is later (within 90 days) you can always go with the buy and return method that works so well...  ;)

I agree with Tydirium completely on the Hasbro exclusive issue.  It sucks some of the fun out of the event, and judging from today's news, I won't be getting any at all, at least until Yoda turns up on 4/10.  But why wait a week to spend $25 at TRU, when I can get figs for a dollar cheaper anywhere else?  If TRU had any sense, they'd dangle that thing on MM.

Anyone know what the projected numbers were for the Toyfair Vader?  Just curious as to how high this sucker may get.  I hate to say it but I really want this figure and the only possible way for me to obtain is to pay some inflated price, which  I probably might do.  I hate to pay it, but i'm a completist when it comes to exclusives. The cheapest ones I have seen on ebay around $50.  I hate to wait and after the 2nd they jump even higher ???  My closest Target is an hour and 15 minutes away so I am screwed.

Everything I ever heard on the Toy Fair Vader put it in the 2,000 to 5,000 range for quantity.

So a better comparison would be the Sacul figure, I think.  That was in the low 30,000's, and has settled in the $30-$40ish range now, so I think that'll likely put this 50,000 unit Lava Vader somewhere in the $20's in the long run.  Of course, that's assuming you're patient enough to wait a year or two to nab one.
