Great sorrow and shock at what I heard. It seems that one of our own may have been behind the grenade attack on the 101st. Many of you that know me know I started my military career with in the 101st. I was in the 1st battalion of the 327th infantry. This attack was on the 2nd of the 327th. Reports said the CO was in the tent that was the target but he was injured but still adressing his troops. They have the suspect in custody. Sad indeed  :'(

Apparently the suspect was part of the Engineers, so he wasn't an Airborne (I suspected he was not from the get-go)... Also as I expected, the guy is a convert-muslim...
What I would have never expected was that anyone could survive four hand grenades thrown into a tent... but luckily (so-far) nobody was killed (I think).

This guy should be executed immediately. No trial.

Update -
Regarding the frag attack, one soldier has died, several others are listed as serious condition.
The news is now stating that this guy was disgruntal, or something to that effect, but I still bet it was a muslim thing. Either way, throwing 4 hand grenades into a tent of your country-men is no way to take out frustrations

In other news, reports are saying that an Brit 2-man Jet was shot down on accident by an American missile. No word on possible survivors

Not good! Hard days ahead.

Pentagon: Group of U.S. soldiers killed or captured.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A group of fewer than 10 U.S. soldiers have been captured or killed by Iraqi military forces, Pentagon officials said Sunday.

The soldiers, attached to a maintenance unit in south-central Iraq, went astray and were confronted by Iraqi military, officials said.

Some U.S. soldiers were killed, and others were being held as prisoners of war, officials said.

Iraqi television filmed interviews Sunday with what it said were American soldiers captured in southern Iraq.

The Arabic language, Qatar-based news network Al-Jazeera broadcast a tape Sunday of what appear to be U.S. soldiers identifying themselves and their place of origin. At least two of the soldiers interviewed appeared to be wounded; one of the wounded was a woman.

Richard Myers, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, called the soldiers' appearance a violation of the Geneva Convention.

"This is just one more crime by the Iraqi regime," a grim-faced Myers told reporters at the Pentagon shortly after the capture had been confirmed.

The news came as coalition ground forces faced pockets of strong resistance as they drove Sunday through the Iraqi desert toward Baghdad and other strategic targets.

U.S. Marines encountered heavy resistance and have suffered casualties Sunday in fighting near the southeastern Iraqi city of Nasiriyah.

Marines entered the city after Iraqi forces ambushed a U.S. military convoy bringing supplies to coalition forces in the region, according to CNN's Alessio Vinci, who is with the Marines

There are reports that some prisoners were exicuted. Very troubling indeed. I find it sicking to listen to that. As a soldier you assume the risks of combat injuries and fatalities, but given the laws of land warfare and Geneva convention(which Saddam said he would follow) you don't expect this type of treatment.

I hope that the was moves into a higher gear and they get those POWs home. This looks to be going into a very bad situation, lets hope no more fighting men and women fall into Iraqi hands.

Also new reports are being made confirming Iraqi and russian arms deals and also French deals in the recent past. The reports show that Russia has sold info to Iran allowing them to build a neuclear reactor capable of producing weapons grade components. Lets all hope that doesn't turn out that way.

Dale are they showing the AL Jazzera footage in Canada? Even the footage is a Geneva violation.

I watched CCN right after I posted. They showed footage of the slain members. A still photo to be exact. CNN covered there faces in respect. They said some were shot once in the forhead. I have not seen any other footage thus far on the POW's. CNN will not show the footage.

There is aslo a report that a plane has been shot down & the pilot's ejected & landed in the river. Not sure if it is US or UK. Unconfirmed as of yet.
