About the only thing I would change is putting the Announcements section at the top, and making the Quote font a little larger.

Nathan, what we do with the Announcements section is move it to the top of the board whenever there's an actual announcement being made (which isn't all that often).  Then, after a few weeks, we'll drop it back down to the bottom of the board when there's nothing going on.  That way, it really draws member's attentions when they see it up at the top, since they're not used to seeing it up there on a regular basis.  Otherwise, folks might just ignore it if they see it up there all the time and it rarely ever changes.  They might not even notice when there finally is an update.  Make sense?

As for the quoted text thought, we'll talk about that and see if that's something we can customize, or not.

Thanks for the comments!

- Matt

I wish my freaking laptop situation would fix itself so I could get back into the fun.

Although I can't get to C3, I am going to the Bonnaroo Music Festival, is anyone else going that'd like to meet up?

Yeah, that does makes a lot of sense. Thanks for explaining. :)

Cool. Sometimes (like now) I manually up the size using the BBC tags, but I'm a lazy sort so it would be nice not to have to do that every time. ;D

I'm a little late to this thread, but I just wanted to add myself to the group of people thanking Chris and all of the moderators/staff of JD for providing us such a great community.  I have been involved in a few Star Wars forums over the years, but have never been involved so deeply and been so comfortable at one as I have been here at JD.  It is nice to be able to discuss the movies/collectibles that we all enjoy, or anything else that we feel like talking about.  It may sound strange, but it feels like we have a nice group of "friends" here, regardless of whether or not we have even met.  All of you have done a great job making and keeping this a great community, and avoiding some of the pitfalls that other sites have had problems with.  Overall, everyone is very nice, cordial, and helpful to one another, and it is great to be a part of that.  Thanks for that everyone.  "Mad props" as the kids say ;), keep up the great work.

I'm a little late to this thread...

Indeed you are Brian, as we've long since moved on to the topic of potential bannings with this thread...  But thanks for the kind words anyway.  JD is lucky to have you here, as one of it's most upstanding members, without a doubt.  That said, however...

You know what we should do?  We should ban anyone who is from the same place as them, because where ever they are from is most obviously a source of trouble-makers.

Ah yes, but how do you determine where someone is actually "From"?

I mean, am I "From" Rebelscum? One could argue I registered at TFN long before that and found my way to RS, GH and JD later through that site.

Maybe you ban people based on geographical location. I'm pretty sure no troublemakers are from the Northwest like me, but just in case they are I could always decide that I'm "From" California (cause that's where I grew up).

Remember: The more you drop the banhammer, the more members will slip through your fingers.

I think you're absolutely right Jeff, and that's something I'd already been contemplating myself.  So let's see here...  Since Bob got this all started, and he works at GH, any other GH'ers are officially toast now.  LJ's on the list too, so I think that's going to have to wipe out any RS'ers as well.  But Jamie though?  Hmm...  That's a tricky one, 'cause you know what that would mean...  :-\

Matt Carroll (Matt Carroll) - GH

Mike Sullenger (Mike Sullenger) - GH
Josh (Josheee) - RS, kinda
Greg(g) (GNT) - RS

Any other inclusions I'm brainfarting on?

Oh, yeah - let's go GEOGRAPHICALLY too!

Imagine the banned list...

everyone who is from Canada- OUT (thanks to Brent/Bob)
everyone from Tennessee - OUT (Jamie)
etc etc etc

That way we catch all the stragglers who are associated with the banned that might try to sneak under our radar

I say we just ban you 2 bonebrains, because obviously the inmates are running the asylum!

And you can't ban Canadians, they're our highest quality members.   ;)
