Any other fans of Sumo-wrestling here?
« on: April 24, 2005, 04:34 AM »
Serioulsy I enjoy watching sumo on Europsort.

First time they send it was when the sumo-stars was in France (in the late 1990's as far as I remember). It got quite populat so they continued to send sumo on regular basic.

When you get to know the rules and the styles of the different rikishis (wrestlers), it's actually quite entertaining.

Hope to hear from other sumo fans here.

Henrik,

Can't say that I am a fan but I did watch a couple matches the other night with my wife and was really impressed by the amount of skill required to compete at a high level.

The matches deffinetely broke the stereotype for me of two fat guys playing touch feely.

The broadcast was in Hi Def. too so it was purrrrty.

I used to work next to a Weight Watchers center and saw a scuffle break out during a saturday meeting.  Does that count?

Hi, I think sumo could be amusing to watch, cause its unusual to be in front so big guys
concerning they abilities they push, do suplexes, wrestle and try to pull the hands to open a gap for a projection.

When seeing recent matches I noticed that some sumo wrestlers do not have such dilatated abdomen, they are evolving their shape, still fat, but in a way they can gain speed for sumo´s techniques.
