Shipping to your local comic book store this Wednesday (1/18/2006)...

STAR WARS REPUBLIC #82 $2.99
(or, if your shop got #82 in last week, you should be getting #81 in this week)

Save those pennies, kids!

Corman

Who lucked out and got both Republic #81 and #82 last week and they are great.
There is nothing to read all the way down here.  If I had something else to say, I'd a said it in my post.  You may proceed to the next post.

Both #81 and #82 were pretty good.

Loved to see more of the wookie battle.  Also nice to see some of the nods to past Dark Horse storylines, and also I like how it directly ties into EPIII.

Can't wait or issue #83!!!!!

The comics have been fantastic as of late.  Has the feel that Lucasfilm lightened up thier grip, and gave some freedom over the last few years, seem to be more movie tie-ins and directly related stories lately.

Hope it continues!
Star Wars and toy Collector since 1978(age 7).  currently over 6,500 SW items in my personal collection. Collect modern/vintage and everything in-between ;^)

#83 is the last issue of Republic. It's ending. Empire is also ending with #40. Dark Horse is revamping their line in 2006, replacing Republic and Empire with KOTOR and Rebellion(which will continue some of the stories of Empire).

That's what I said. vos has become one of my favorite star Wars characters, EU or not. DH did a great job meshing out his character development over the last 5 years. I just wish that he could've had his own CW novel. I would have really enjoyed that read.

As for the fates of Rebellion and Empire, here's a quote from DH. com:

Our current ongoing monthly series, Republic and Empire, will be put to rest, making way for several bright and exciting projects, beginning in January with an all-new ongoing series called Knights of the Old Republic. Set 4,000 years before the films and eight years before the very successful video game of the same name, it's a return to the Old Republic time period Dark Horse created twelve years ago in our popular Tales of the Jedi series. Written by John Jackson Miller, Illustrated by Brian Ching and Michael Atiyeh, with covers by Travis Charest (WildC.A.T.s), it's sure to get your Star Wars groove on, no matter your level of fandom.

The second half of our relaunch one-two punch is Rebellion -- a series of miniseries, published in much the same way that we do Hellboy or B.P.R.D. at five issues per year. Set in the Original Trilogy era, just prior to the events in The Empire Strikes Back, this new series focuses on the ever-changing balance of the galactic civil war. Starring Luke Skywalker and characters from the films alongside characters of our own creation, it's written by Rob Williams and illustrated by Brandon Badeaux and Wil Glass.

There is an unnamed project coming  from John Ostrander and Jan Duursema (the duo behind Quinlan Vos and Aayla Securra) that is a bit of a mystery.  Neither creator can talk about it and can't until official word comes from Dark Horse.  But according to a post from Jan's website, word should be coming soon.

Last issue of Republic. Will Quinlan Vos live or die? I don't know, but the Clone Wars run in Republic have been my favorite SW comics ever. I really hate to see it end.
