Do You "Enter to Win"?
« on: May 12, 2005, 07:03 PM »
Aside from Star Wars, this is my other major hobby right now, entering sweepstakes.  At least that doesn't cost much, just the occasional stamp to mail in an entry, since I do most of my entering online.  So, I thought I'd share some cool contest/sweepstakes sites:

These are entertainment sites that give away lots of
CDs/DVDs and occasionally bigger prizes:

http://www.thecelebritycafe.com/
http://www.moviefreak.com/
http://www.dvdverdict.com
http://www.emilystrange.com
I actually won a set of DVDs from Emily Strange

And here's a "Star Wars" giveaway that's going
on right now:

http://www.cingularpromo.com -- you can win a
    SW-themed sports car

HGTV, Food Network, and DIY are always giving
away big prizes, like houses and SUVs.

Good luck, everybody!

I tend to skip them over myself...  I don't know why.  I guess I just havent' had much luck winning things so I tend to bypass them.

However, Jedi Defender is giving away a Lava Vader!  [/end shameless plug]

I don't bother with these type of things. I've only won free soda and iTunes.

Well, I did win $50 once on a pull tab that I used my last dollar on one time when I was totally broke. That's about it.

I rarely enter those types of contests. I usually only get coke from bottle caps, though I did get a Frutopia hat once from a bottle cap contest.

I enter SW online contests for ***** and giggles, I never expect to win. Though one time I won a C3 Vader from some website. What was its name... :-*

Most require a US residence so I'm pretty much out of most of them anyway.  I do try to win on Canadian contests when I can find them.

I'll enter something if the entry isn't completely time consuming.  Unfortunately, that's often the case.  I was doing those damned Target contests that get printed on the ends of some of their receipts for several years, and finally got tired of it since it takes too long, and yielded nothing out of several hundred attempts.  Seems like everybody's doing those contests on their receipts nowadays though - restaurants, retailers, fast food joints, etc.  Gets tiring though.

We also entered to win one of those SUVs sitting in the mall entrance way a number of years ago, and subsequently found ourselves in a completely stupid Timeshare seminar as a result.  Idiots.

But like Jesse pointed out, our JD ROTS exclusives giveaways are certainly quick and easy to enter, so be sure to get your butts in there for the next one, which should be starting very soon.  I know a couple of folks here are very glad they did, as there's a C3 Vader with a new home, and Target Lava Vader which will have a new home very soon as well!  8)
