ROTS Easter Eggs
« on: May 26, 2005, 01:13 AM »
Thought we should have a thread for Easter Eggs in the movie.

These two were taken from MillenniumFalcon.com

The Millenium Falcon/YT1300 Stock Light Freighter:
As Obi Wan, Anakin and Palpatine arrive at the senate building on the airbus, after the rescue, just as the airbus comes into land, at the bottom of the screen, right side about 2/3rds across the screen a certain 'peice of junk' that's 'got it where it counts' appears coming for a landing. A second YT1300 can be seen taking off.

General Grievous' Lightsabers:
When Grievous fights Obi Wan, the four lightsaber hilts he uses are all major character lightsabers. Grievous uses:

Obi Wan Kenobi's Episode III and IV Lightsaber (Blade is green, not blue)
Anakin Skywalker's Episode II Lightsaber (Blade is correct blue)
Qui Gon Jinn's Episode I Lightsaber (Blade is correct green)
Darth Sidious' Episode III Lightsaber (Blade is Blue, not Red)

Has anyone else spotted any Eggs?

I don't know if it could be considered an egg (probably not) but Yoda's leaving Kashyyyk with Chewie and Tarfful watching looks a whole lot like E.T. leaving Elliot in that film.  Even the slow closing of the door, the musical swell, and the angle of the ship's departure were right out of "E.T."   :)

Iknow the daytime shot of the jedi temple burning was meant to resemble the WTC burning from sept 11 and it seemed to me that when the Invisible hand is coming in for a crash landing, the overhead shot of it breaking up in the sky resembled the challenger vidoe as it disintegrated in the sky.

ok cool, glad I'm not the only one who thought that. of course, it';ll about a dozen more viewings to catch everything.
I did notice the yt-1300 (falcon) and also Baron (gl) Paranoid in the theater hallway as anakin goes to visit the chancellor.

I thought finding Animation Director Rob Coleman, and IMLer's John Knoll and Roger Guyett was a find.  They were in the opera box next to Palpatine and Anakin.

I heard the "Wilhelm" scream early on during the Battle of Coruscant. I really didn't think of it as a easter egg since it's been used in all of the movies, just figured it being continuity. I did catch that the wall sculpture in Palpatine's office depicting a battle between Jedi and Sith actually contains an Episode 1 Pre-production depiction of what eventually became Darth Maul.

Not really an easter egg but for some strange reason I didn't catch it till the second viewing. It's the scene were Anakin defeats Dooku and afterwards say's something like "I shouldn't have done that, he was un-ARMED". Ouch!!! I usually get punchlines much quicker than this. I must be slipping. :-[

Now back to the easter egg topic. Nothing new really but I just love the scene were Obi and Yoda storm the temple (seeing the pair finally fight side by side was worth it's weight in gold to me) and Yoda throws his saber into the clones chest, jumps on said clone, then yanks it from his body before he even hits the ground. What an absolutely amazing scene!!!
