The Meeting
« on: June 4, 2005, 06:31 PM »
Ok so i was having a good chat about this with a friend.
The conversation between Vader and ObiWan on the DeathStar in StarWars needs to be changed.
Considering the exchange they gave each other at the end of Sith, Vader would have wanted revenge, he would have wanted it bad, his voice would have been filled with anger ,hate and vengance, he would have wanted Kenobi to suffer, he was just too calm.
What do yo think?
The problem with America is stupidity I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself

Meh....I think it's ok.  I would think Vader would be more out to prove he was right rather than pissed off.  He's also had about 20 years to temper his fury for revenge.

It is a dish best served cold btw.
This is the way.

I have spoken.

MattF's right.

The exchange in ANH is okay with me too.

Same here. After all, he's had 19 years to calm down.

Changing OT dialogue is an extremely slippery slope. Should we also tweak the dialogue in the Death Star conference room? On the Executor? In the Cloud City duel? In the ROTJ duel? Reasons (some good, some not so good) could be given for any of these, but where does one stop? I think it's better left alone, especially since the scene in question is OK as it is.

I think it's fitting.  Calm behavior between advesaries (in battle) inspires the notion in me personally that there's a burning hatred under that calm that is immeasureable.

Basically, I look at the exchange as almost creepy in how calm it is...  They're so focused (one in his self-sacrifice, one in his hatred) that they're not going nuts on each other.

The main reason he loses the first battle with Kenobi is because he is way to aggresive and not calm and level headed.  By the time ANH rolls around he is.  Well much more so than that first duel.

I think he's also very arrogant in the fact that he believes he's right, and Kenobi is wrong. He's basically got unlimited power to do as he pleases in the galaxy, while Kenobi has been on the lamb for 20 years. He's one of the power players in the Galactic Empire, while Kenobi has been in exile. He probably feels like Kenobi is just one last loose end.

I agree....Vader wouldn't be rash at this point in his reign.

Vader's had a lot of time hunting and killing Jedi to satiate his rage. bwahaha (sinister laughter)

I found putting in 20 something Anakin in the ROTJ spirit scene odd.  Yoda looked like he did when he died, so does Kenobi, what's up with Anakin?  You can't say "that's how he looked when last he was good," as he was good when he died.

On that logic, he should have been burned up, old and wearing the Vader suit.
