Just curious if anyone had read this report at OfftheCard.com, regarding ROTK figures/toys...it is at this link, under October 15th News:

Off the Card.com

Since the story is a couple days old, I'll also post the text of it here...if that's a no-no, I'm sorry, and feel free to delete it if necessary mods!  Anyways, this report might be totally untrue, just thought some of you might want to read it if you haven't already.  Here it is:

Another Nail in the Coffin?

It is starting to look more and more likely that the ToyBiz ROTK product currently on the shelves may be all we will see. OTC reader Matthew recently contacted ToyBiz, and got this response:

I noticed you have listed a Wave 4 with Harad Archer, Pippin in Armour, etc. I eagerly await this series because I think that there is hardly any different character selection in the Return of the King figures! But I called ToyBiz and they said they are stopping at Wave 3...

While it is entirely possible that the Customer Service rep Matthew talked to wasn't completely informed, this may also be taken as a good sign. The rumored LOTR "Trilogy" lists that popped up about a month ago didn't list an ROTK Series 4. Entertainment Earth's case assortments list the ROTK wave of the Trilogy assortment to be exactly the same as ROTK Series 4, however. As long as nothing gets shifted around at ToyBiz, it looks like all plans are going ahead for the Trilogy Assortments, which should start to hit in January with FOTR, TTT, and what was originally ROTK Series 4:

    * King Aragorn
    * Pippin in Armor
    * Harad Archer
    * Legolas

Yeah, from the sounds of it, the ROTK line ends basically as soon as the film comes out in December, replaced by the Trilogy line, which includes ROTK Series 4.   What will be interesting to see is if TB pushes the ROTK assortments with the FOTR and TTT ones in support, or if stores are going to devote a lot of shelf space they haven't before to a film that's over with.

Look at the way Star Wars gets treated when it's a non-movie year. I'm guessing this line will probably last until ROTK hits DVD, then TB will kill it faster than you can say 'bad idea'. Which sucks, because I'm actually beginning to warm up to the idea of the Trilogy line. Time will tell. I do want King Aragorn and the Harad Archer.

It will probably depend on how the sales continue.  If sales remain solid following the release of ROTK, maybe ToyBiz will keep moving it forward.  You can also keep some measure of hope since there is a strong possibility of "The Hobbit" making it's way to the big screen in a few years.

Just got my CB Urak Hai today...this is one SWEET figure.  Now I am officially caught up until the Pippen (armor) wave hits.  Better get a Merry to go with that someday.

Jadesfire, Merry is supposed to (crosses fingers) come in the subsequent wave along with the King of the Dead, the Armored Witchking, and someone else I'm forgetting.  I'm excited about him, too.
