This will take a while to digest, but for right now:

Peter Jackson Hobbit chase figure: UGH.

SA FOTR Boromir: Best figure they've done yet.

Some of those figures in Waves 3 and 4 (Mt. Doom Frodo) better be stand-ins.

I hope so, especially Frodo....it has to be a stand in.

I love the coronation gift pack.  That will be the one item I have to have for 2004.  Gil-Galad is also well done.  I can't believe how exciting it is for Toy Biz( and Hasbro) to turn out the figures I've always known they were capable of making!!

Again, more detailed thoughts later, but I agree whole-heartedly with jadesfire, the Coronation set is the hallmark of the year for me.  Not the ridiculously small Fell Beast, not the NECA Balrog (close second), but that fantastic Eowyn figure.  She's perfect.  I'll buy two, and customize the White Lady Edoras dress out of her.  :)

Well, the only thing I could possibly ask of Toy Biz now is to get all these figures out and not cancel any of them.

Except that Peter Jackson Hobbit. That's kinda lame, actually. But I'd buy it if I found it.

Spuffy's Thoughts:

#1 Most Important: Coronation Eowyn is the best figure TB has ever made. She's perfect, and that Faramir is nothing to sneeze at, either. She's perfect for an Edoras White Dress custom, and I look forward to her the most.

#2: SP Boromir. The 2nd best fig TB has ever done. I've been waiting for him for years, ever since the so-so first Boromir.

The Fell Beast: I needed the laugh. Still, I'll probably buy one.

Roto Attack Troll: What this series was meant to be. Fantastic.

WAVE THREE:

Ringwraith - A smart repack. I would have prefered a new one, but oh well.
Coronation Gimli - I really like him. Looks very regal and about time we got a new Gimli for goodness sake.
Uruk-Hai Warrior - He looks great, but WHERE IS THE HELMET?!? Sigh.
Queen Arwen - She looks great, but the reuse of Galadriel's body is curious, especially when they lavished on the coronation Eowyn. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
Gollum - I didn't buy the SP one so I'll get him.
Shelob - A bit too small, but no big complaints here. She looks great.

Isengard Orc - Never have enough orcs.
Gamling - Turned out good.  Just what I expected.
Aragorn - Obviously a stand in.
Armored Boromir - I hope this is a stand in. He disappoints if not. The Coronation Faramir is actually more accurate to Boromir's armor, so I'm thinking this isn't final at al.
Frodo - Another stand in. Better be.

Birthday Bilbo - For some reason he looks like Joe Pesci instead of Ian Holm. Hmm. Doesn't interest me in the slightest.
Elendil - He looks great. Needs bit more of a beard.
Elrond in Robes - One of the best TB has ever done. Magnificent.
Gil-Galad - Can't say I wanted him, but bring him on. Looks good.
Moria Archer - Another world class figure. He's perfect. MUST HAVE.

WAVE FOUR:

Mt. Doom Frodo: Stand in.
Prologue Smeagol - He's great. I love the smirk.
Gorbag - He's really cool. I love the detail on many of these figures, just outstanding in every way.
Denethor - I love the sourpuss look. Great figure.
Gondorian Guard - Great figure. I'll get two, but we still need the regulars of course.
Legolas - Umm. More money for me.
Isengard Orc Capt. - Orc Brute surfaces. Cool, but not high on my list.
Theodred - I thought he would be a very simple Eomer swap ala Gamling, but he appears all new. Kudos to TB.
Samwise - Stand in central.
Shagrat - I love the Uruks, and he's awesome.
PJ Hobbit - The nicest surprise and most troubling development. When they mean chase, do they mean TW Frodo chase? This will make a lot of people unhappy if he proves impossible to find.

Wow, Spuffy...those are basically all the things I thought about the figures.  I'm not getting Shelob though (it's the whole spider issue for me ;) ).

I want the PJ figure just like I wanted the Jorg Sacul figure...it's so lame, it's cool....if that makes any sense.

I've only recreated Eoywn gowns for the 12" line so I am looking forward to your work on her for the white gown.

 Toy Biz makes these.

Jadesfire, I'd love to see your work on the dolls.  Sounds cool.  I think Coronation Eowyn would also make a perfect base for the gown she wears in the ROTK scene where she shares the goblet with Aragorn.
