Man, I had hoped they were going to start it up again, not rebroadcast the originals... man, that would be awesome to get that show on the air and pick up where they left off... with the original cast as well.

Meh, they should resurrect "DRIVE" instead...there was a Nathan Filion vehicle with TONS of potential.  :D

No one's going to invest any sort of serious money back into that show for two reasons... First, it's already flopped once.  Second, the best part about it (Nathan Fillion) isn't leaving his big-time ABC show to come back to a previously-failed Sci-Fi show.

Well, not right now.  But if Nathan Fillion wins $300 million in the lottery, look for new Firefly webisodes soon after! :P

Can't wait for the luck of a lotto win?  Then join the rally to help get the ball rolling sooner!

Actually, if you read the EW articles Jeff references above, the show pulled a 2.0 average rating, which is very passable in today's TV landscape. So the show actually had some legs. It's the movie that flopped.

And Nathan already said he would love to buy the rights to Firefly and resurrect it, even as an online series.

The real problem would be getting Whedon back on board. And probably Adam "Chuck" Baldwin. Morena could be available soon, as could Summer. (although I hope not as I love their current respective series)

I stand corrected... I see that he did say that he'd love to do the show again.

That said, I watched the show (a friend gave me the DVD's and sort of made me) and I didn't think it was any good... but if you're into it, good luck.

I could totally see this as a web series on the order of The Guild or Dr. Horrible. Heck, Whedon has done it before.

Sorry for the old bump....but I was one of the few that hadn't seen the Firefly series until this past week/weekend.  The "Science" channel (which I wasn't even aware we had until I had searched for Firefly and saw it come up), aired the entire series over the weekend.  I've got a couple on the DVR left to watch, but man have I enjoyed it.  I did see Serenity awhile back, but hadn't seen any of the show, so I'd like to rewatch it now after seeing everything else (actually, I'm planning on picking up both on Amazon now I think).  I can see why so many love this series, I'm definitely in that camp as well.  Really wish it would continue on in some capacity at some point.

I get the appeal, but somehow the prospect of futuristic sci-fi without aliens always seemed like a bore to me. They don't even have anthropomorphic robots!  ;D

Anything that gave us Summer Glau is ok with me though.

There's Mr. Universe's lovebot.

He killed me with a sword.  How weird is that?

Would the Reavers be considered aliens?

Reavers were humans that just went nuts due to the side effects of the calming chemical they were using on Miranda.

I did watch the original airings of this show, Starhunter and The Cape.  I loved them all!  I think the fact that they put them all on Saturday afternoon was a killer.  It's about the worst time to air a good show.  It also sucked that they pulled the new "V" series.  Networks SUCK!
I bought the series Firefly and Starhunter but was shortchanged when all the Starhunter episodes were Not included in the "complete" series.  I'd love to see tem ALL come back.
