I visited their distillery when I was over there this January. I got to taste-test Jameson, Paddy, Powers (which are two other brands under the Jameson umbrella) along with a Scotch (which was Johnny Walker) and an American whiskey (Jack Daniels). I had never done a side-by-side like that so I didn't realize what a difference there was. The JD is freakin harsh compared to the rest.

Production-wise, the biggest difference is that Irish whiskey is triple-distilled, while Scotch is twice-distilled and American only once ... I'm sure most of you are aware of this but it was news to me. ;)

The Guiness brewery was cooler. Although I didn't bring my camera, I do have enough souvenir crap to prove I was there. ;)

Fort Collins Big Shot Seasonal Ale

I found this in (for lack of a gentler term) the clearance rack at the liquor store. The stuff is surprisingly awesome and I'm seriously contemplating going back for a few more. It was $1.99 for a 22 oz ... the giant bottle makes me feel kind of hobbit-like. ;)

Just got back from a St. Paddy's Day party ... started out with two Guinesses, followed up with a $5 bottomless cup from the "mystery beer" kegs, then some sort of vodka shot after the kegs ran dry.

Wooo00hoho000!

Had a nice Singha beer with Thai food at dinner, and some Guiness to round out the night checking out a couple of local rock bands.
