Using the power of the repaint for good, not evil.
« on: October 18, 2005, 03:38 PM »
So with the Final 12 being repaints and all, it got me thinking about what other figures could be repainted and rereleased as different characters. There is a right way to do repaints, so let's brainstorm some ways it could be done right.

------------------------

--Denaria Kee

Pretty similar to Passel, only purple. The Saga Passel figure has already been repainted in the Final 12, so I think Hasbro could get away with repainting it purple and calling her Denaria Kee. OK, so she's shorter, and the attire is slightly different, but it's probably our only chance of getting this figure so it's close enough.

------------------------

--Neimoidian General

Put down those torches and pitchforks and hear me out! :P How about repainting the guy with gold armor and making him a general?

Gold = general
Silver = commander
Bronze/copper = infantry

On second thought, this is probably simple enough that even I could manage to customize this.

------------------------

Thoughts? What else would you like to see--or at least, not hate to see?

Please note: clone variants do not count. And neither does redoing a character with better deco, like the OTC Gamorrean Guard, since it's the same character.

I actually repainted a Passel Argente about a year ago to make that color scheme.   ;)

This is the perfect opportunity for me to once again stage my cry for "Wompus the Ewok"!

Take those ewok molds - Teebo, Logray, and Wicket (if they need a small ewok) and start grinding out some dang ewoks!

A) brown/tan with short spear
B) gray/black with 'rock-on-a-stick' club
C) reddish-brown with bow/quiver
D) dark brown with long spear

Call them Lumat, Romba, Warok, and Wompus.

I just want some more dang ewoks!   :D

The thread title is the perfect way to describe what people are speculating about the 2006 Artoo, that he's a repaint of that killer SP astromech. An Artoo with that dome-retractable leg will be fantastic!

Good call on the 'woks, Jeff. Given the number of potential fur colors, repainted Ewoks are a no-brainer--particularly if they swapped around the accessories and even the heads if the sockets are compatible.

They've given us 5 different wookiees using only 2 sculpts (Not Counting Tarful or Chewie) so why can't they do it with the ewoks? I wouldn't mind some repaints of the ROTS SP R2 unit either, or they R3 or R4s, that aren't a ridiculous $8 a piece. ::)

The one (and only) good thingI think Adam Pawlus has done for the hobby is getting those Astromech packs done.

I think EE could churn out repaintorama in a good way for a few new exclusives:

Another Astromech Pack (with R5 now in the mix)
Episode III Clones (Utapau, Shocktrooper, 501st, Grey Coruscant and Kashyyyk Scout Trooper)
Protocol Droids (U-3PO, Red one from Episode I, TC-14 and Non Battle K-3PO)
Ewoks (Wompus included)
Bespin Dudes Guard #1, Guard #2, Guard #3 and Ugnaught

etc

Dude, don't give them anymore ideas. Delete that post, now!!

I'm tired of all these stupid repaints already. Yeah, some of the Clones were/are cool (if I could find them  ::) ) but overall I'm sick of it.

But yeah, before you ask, I'll be buying all of them. Two of each, actually. ******* Hasbro.

There are so many possibilities here (obviously EE thinks so with the droids and clones).  I like repaints when it's simple and obvious (SA clones) so I'm always game.

I hope they do more wookies (and ewoks), because they're really my favorites.

Off the top of my head (and taken from my post in the Death Star wave thread)...

• Repaint the POTJ Imperial Officer to have a grey body to give us the scanning crew member.

• Release a solid color OTC spirit of Obi Wan to give us a normal Obi-Wan.

With very few exceptions, I think re-paints only work on the droids and clones. The idea behind the wookies is admirable, but it just doesn't work for me.

Repainting Ewoks, I don't know. It might work better if they had more than one generic body to repaint.

I don't mind the repaints in certain circumstances either.  It obviously works with astromechs, and really the more I see those EE sets, the more I kind of want them.  Just a little too pricey for me though.  I do like the idea of repainting some ewoks, generic or otherwise.  I'd like new, different sculpts for the "bigger names" like Chirpa and the others we got in the vintage line (maybe a new Wicket too?), but having a 3-4 pack of differently colored/hooded 'woks would be great.  Of course, the repainted clones work nice too, just start using more of the #41 sculpt ;).

These are good, but I'd rather they used one of the imp officer heads for the scanning tech figure. The scanning tech's sculpt is sooooo dated.

Yeah, I should of listed that.  I actually saw a custom, not sure if it was here, took the AT-ST from the Imperial Forces pack and put the Imperial officer head on.  Looked really good.
