I find it interesting that they jumped in right away with various scaled figures. Guess they have to make as much money as possible before the movie goes away.

There is 2 company's making the toys. The stuff you find at Target/Wal-Mart is by Zizzle, the stuff that you find at Spencers, Hot Topic, Suncoast is made by Neca. Zizzle has the 2 different scales.

My Wally had about 300 (no joke) zizzle figures.

Its funny, at least as of Monday, our local Wal-Mart wasn't carrying the Zizzle POTC stuff at all, and hasn't this year.  Maybe our store just isn't as focused on their toy section as others, but there are a number of lines now that they don't seem to be carrying much - or any - of.  The other stores (Target, TRU, KB) are carrying the POTC line though - and it seems to be doing fairly well judging by the sell through.

Over the holiday weekend I saw my first Zizzle toy comercial for these toys.

The only thing that Zizzle has going for it is that it appears that they & NECA have very similar sculps for the toys.

I found a boatload (pun!) of these at a local WM. I saw Elizabeth Swann, so I almost started buying this line. I'm still undecided whether to pursue these of NECA's 6" stuff.

I personally like the NECA line and think that it is worth purchasing. I am working on the POTC COTBP Series 2 & 3 sets to build the Grotto Scene, and started getting DMC Series 1 & 2 stuff so I can build the Flying Dutchman scene.

If I may be so bold, there's a story out on our front page that ties old-school Kenner employees and the new POTC:DMC toy lines...  You may (or may not) find it an interesting read, but I did...  My buddy Eric (efranks) tipped me off to the story and I must say it was interesting to me so hopefully you find it too.

I am really looking forward to my next trip to spencers!
I want to pick up Jack, Will and maybe Commador Norrington if he ever gets made.

Then again I hate the wally figs...they are so small and the paint on some of them is funky...
And then there is V for Vendetta coming out in a few weeks...-sigh- so many things so little cash...  :P

Zizzle has really struck a goldmine with POTC2. Every time I go to Target, all the '3 3/4 basic figures are completely sold out. The only things that are sitting are the Bump N' Go Pintel and Jack, which are on clearance for $3.98. Might pick up the Pintel one if they go down any lower.

I heard that over the next year, there's going to be up to 50 POTC figures.  It seems that there will be figs from the firts movie, and next year the third film.  That sounds like a great collection.  I really like these, but the wallet belongs to Star Wars.

My hat's off to Zizzle as well...

You guys may not have noticed but we had a story up on our front page here before Comic-Con...  A lot of the old staff from Kenner/Hasbro-Kenner in Cincinatti are now working for Zizzle and producing some of the work we're seeing.

I think the line has some growing to do to improve in terms of quality...  But at the same time they're really knocking out some good product and Series 2 basic figures I saw here somewhere recently looked like a leap ahead of Series one.

The POTC stuff sells out fast here too...  I guess so much for waiting on clearance for that wheelhouse ruin...  If I'm gonna get it I need to do so soon.  That skull/bone cage is a kickass piece for Star Wars customs too.  Could be an Amanin captive prison or an Ewok one as one of our customizers used it for...  It's cool looking.

I need to pick up some of the figures at WM when I see them (they fly out of there...  Only Target's overpriced ones ever seem to sit) for customizing.  Namely the short fat dude.

Hell I still have to see this movie...   ::)  I need more time in the day.

CNN Money had a new article a couple days ago about Zizzle.  You can check it out here:
