A lot of news on a number of comic movies (specifically Marvel ones) came out of Marvel's Quarter One Conference Call yesterday.  Here's a list of what's coming up (courtesy of SuperHeroHype.com):

-Arad said that The Punisher will be released internationally starting in September. They are hoping to have The Punisher 2 ready by next fall. Thomas Jane is signed for three films and Jonathan Hensleigh will be back to write and direct as well.

-Spider-Man 2 will get a 60 second spot on this Thursday's "Friends" finale. The sequel also includes a new Marvel logo treatment.

-They've got a writer, director (David Hayter) and actress for Black Widow, though they can't announce the actress just yet.

-Blade: Trinity was just screen-tested (as you read here) and that went "incredibly well". New Line is very confident and will promote the film aggresivelly.

-Man-Thing is complete, they just received the finished print. They'll be testing it and then determine an exact release date.

-Elektra starts production today and will be PG-13.

-Fantastic Four starts filming in August. It will have 5 build-in toy lines for the different characters in the film. The "funny family action film" will be rated PG-13. Activision is making a game based on the film too.

-Iron Man will be PG-13 and will have a major toy line. Activision is creating a game based on the movie.

-Luke Cage has a script (Ben Ramsey), director (John Singleton) and actors who they can't announce yet.

-They've started pre-production on the PG-13 Ghost Rider adaptation.

Some of those have me drooling...Fantastic Four, Captain America and Iron Man all sound great, so does Thor

Some of that stuff is C-R-A-P though, like the Punisher though, it sounds like Marvel can really cash in on the whole Comic book craze and do it all right

It also saddens me that they are going for individual movies instead of a Team type thing like the X-Men for most of the Avengers (as I've said before)  Oh well

I agree Scott, it would be kind of neat to see the whole Avengers team together.  I'm kind of happy to see further announcements/confirmation of more Marvel movies.  I know some people hate the "comic fad", but as long as the adaptations are done well, I'm all for it.  I think that the X-Men and Spidey movies have been particularly well done...and if they are similar to that, they should be good.  I'd really like to see how they approach the casting/costumes, etc. of the FF, Iron Man, Captain America, etc.

According to This Article over at filmforce.ign.com, it is possible that the upcoming Fantastic Four movie will be based off of the "Ultimate Fantastic Four" comic.  I personally am not real familiar with that comic, although I understand they are younger, and from what I have read this comic is pretty well liked by those who read it.  On a related note, SuperHeroHype.com is saying that it sounds like Michael Chiklis (the Shield) is up for the role of the Thing/Ben Grimm for this movie.

Another Fantastic Four Casting Rumor, courtesy of SuperHeroHype.com (via AICN).  This one concerns Julia Stiles being up for the role of Sue Storm/Invisible Woman.  Two of the Fantastic Four have been rumored now, hopefully we'll hear official announcements before too long.

I agree and I think it's perfect casting.  But if they go with Stiles as IW, then maybe a bit too old.

And he did the best he could as Batman with the drek Shumacher came up with.

Filmforce.ign.com has a few casting rumors (courtesy of DarkHorizons) concerning the upcoming (someday...) Superman film.  Here's who is being rumored as of now:

Clark Kent/Supes:  Henry Cavill
Lois Lane: Rose Byrne or Selma Blair
Jimmy Olsen: Adam Brody
Lex Luthor: Johnny Depp (although it sounds as if he's not sure he wants the role)

I'm not really familiar with Cavill's work, but its always nice to see a somewhat unknown get cast in these parts, as opposed to the "big stars".  It'd be nice to see Rose Byrne get the Lois part, since she's a Star Wars alum.  Brody is on the Fox show, The OC, which my wife and I watched a lot of this year.  I could see him playing Olsen.  Depp would be pretty cool as Luthor, every movie I have seen him in he has been pretty darn good.  I'm sure these will all changes in a couple of months ;)

Update to yesterday's Superman casting news....Filmforce posted a correction that Depp apparently asked to try out instead for the role of Jor-El, not Lex Luthor.  Things will probably continue to change.

In other news, filmforce and SuperHeroHype are both reporting that Brendan Fraser might be up for the role of Mr. Fantastic:

Fraser is Mr. Fantastic?

Fraser wouldn't be a bad choice, I generally like the big lug as an actor and thought he handled the schlock role in The Mummy(s) very well.  Interesting

SuperHeroHype.com has a possible look at what The Thing might look at in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.  Now this isn't for sure, but I just thought I'd pass it along for conversation's sake.  You can check it out here:

Hmmm...not sure if I like that or not, it looks like Thing but the head is different than Comic Cannon.  Is he going to be CGI or a dude in a rock suit?
