New "Sculpting A Galaxy" At Amazon
Newly listed at Amazon.com is a Star Wars title called Sculpting A Galaxy by ILM Model Maker Lorne Peterson. The book is bound to be a big hit with fans of the Star Wars Saga, and probably similarly styled to the recent Dressing A Galaxy title. The ship date says November 7th 2006, so we have a while to wait.
You can pick up the Regular Edition for $50, or you can shell out the big bucks and get the Deluxe Edition for a scant $295. Either way, as a fan of professional model making, this is a title I'm anxiously awaiting right now and it's sure to show fans that there's a lot more traditional special effects work in Episode III than one may think.

Defender Wishlists 2006: Revenge of the Sith
For the last couple of years, we ran an informal poll with your 10 most wanted characters from the current Star Wars Films. Continuing the tradition and trying to finish up before Comic Con 2006, we thought it would be a good time to revisit those lists. Here's how it works: You send your Wish List for ten 3 3/4" Figures to Scott or post them here, be it new figures, resculpts or even re-releases and he'll tally the votes. After four weeks of list taking he'll publish the results and we will move on to the next movie. The third Prequel Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is now up. Pittsburgh Toy & Collectibles Show
The revamped Pittsburgh Toy, Comic, & Childhood Collectibles Show returns to the Monroeville Expo-Mart (Pittsburgh suburb) this March 11th and 12th. The show is the largest of its kind in Pennsylvania, and features celebrity guests now as it constantly expands.
Always a haven for Star Wars collectors and fans, the PSWCS and 501st Stormtrooper Legion will both be in attendance, as will yours truly in my JediDefender.com duds out there hunting for any deals I can scavenge. I got my Vintage Double-telescoping Saber Luke at this very show one year, so the gems are out there to be found folks!

Sideshow and Medicom Team Up Again
Sideshow announced via Toy Fair that they have struck another deal with Japanese-based Medicom Toy. This time, the two companies have reached an agreement that will allow Sideshow to distribute Medicom's line of Vinyl Semi-Deformed figures in the USA. These vinyl figures have previously only been available in Japan and consequently sell for quite a bit on eBay. Details are not yet available, but we'll be sure to bring you more when we have them!

Phil Brown Passes Away
Actor Phil Brown, best known to Star Wars fans for having played "Uncle Owen" in the original Star Wars but whose acting career spanned many decades, passed away recently. He was 89 years old. The site's staff express their condolences to Mr. Brown's friends and family.

Greatest Hits Wave Upcoming
Hasbro has chosen what it deems to be the 12 of the most popular figures from the Revenge of the Sith line to be re-released in The Saga Collection packaging, calling them their Greatest Hits. Check out Entertainment Earth's listing of these figures, available in May. Miniatures Battles Endor AT-ST Comparison
JediDefender.com broke news last year about the upcoming Star Wars Miniatures Endor Battlepack that would include the Universe Huge Mini AT-ST repainted and enhanced a bit. Thanks to a friend, images have arrived comparing the upcoming Endor AT-ST with the Universe Huge AT-ST.
A noticeable paintjob difference isn't the only enhancement, as you can also clearly see the walker has a firing blast effect on the main guns. Qui-Gon Jinn Gets His Due From Master Replicas
 
The long awaited Limited Edition Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber will finally see the light of day! Master Replicas has announced that this saber will be released on February 7th to Collectors Society members at 9am PST, and then to the general public on February 9th. It is only available from www.MasterReplicas.com and is expected to ship this summer.
As well, the new line of lightsabers called the Collectors Editions will debut with Qui-Gon Jinn. Using the same detailing but lower cost materials, this version will only be available through Master Replicas retailers.

It appears that 2006 will be the year of the Bounty Hunter. First we had Hasbro's Bounty Hunter Pack and now we seem to be getting a set from Gentle Giant. It will include four previously released Bust-Ups (4-LOM, Bossk, Dengar, Zuckuss) and two new Bust-Ups based on their Mini-Bust poses (Boba Fett and IG-88). Hasbro sends along word that the Revenge of the Sith Interactive R2-D2 is now in-stock at HasbroToyShop.com for $80 plus shipping. This version of everyone's favorite little droid was previously only available at the "warehouse" stores (Sam's Club, Costco) during the past holiday season.
