The UGH "Sand People" card has an apparent card/sticker variation as reported to us by reader "newfiend". There are two different versions of the "Not suitable for children under 3 years because of small parts - choking hazard" warning; one printed directly on the card and one as a sticker attached to the center bottom of the card.

Star Wars Celebration IV in Los Angeles
It's been rumored for a while, but this morning StarWars.com finally confirmed Star Wars Celebration IV in Los Angeles! What a way to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars Saga!
The event will run from Thursday, May 24 to Monday, May 28, 2007. Admission to the first day of the event will be for worldwide members of the Official Star Wars Fan Club only! The convention will be open to the general public from Friday through Monday, Memorial Day.

Lucasfilm Defends Original OT on DVD
As previously reported, Lucasfilm will be releasing the theatrical versions of the Original Trilogy via a non-anamorphic transfer. This has resulted in a lot of frustrated fans because the laserdisc style transfer is a much lower resolution and places black bars on the sides of the picture on widescreen TVs. Lucasfilm's justification for this? They are simply a "bonus", so apparently we should be happy with the 1990's quality transfer in 2006. Read the full story at VideoBusiness.com.

Japanese Database Continues
The Star Wars Action Figure Database is an amazing series of books that covers domestic and foreign releases of Star Wars figures. The Official Site has posted some info on this series, specifically the second volume that will be released on May 31st. This volume focuses on the Power of the Force 2 series from 1995 to 1998. Unfortunately, it is written in Japanese, but you'll quickly find the images are a great source of info on their own. HobbyLink Japan has it listed for preorder, so get yours now!

Defender Wishlists 2006: Return of the Jedi
For the last couple of years we've run an informal poll with your 10 most wanted characters from the current Star Wars Films. Continuing the tradition and trying to finish up before Comic Con 2006, we thought it would be a good time to revisit those lists. Here's how it works: You send your Wish List for ten 3 3/4" Figures to Scott or post them here, be it new figures, resculpts or even re-releases and we'll tally the votes. After four weeks of list taking, we'll publish the results.
We'll continue with Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, the final movie for our wishlists. If you need help coming up with names check out the Official Site's Databank for Episode VI. Have fun and thanks for sending in your lists (remember to limit it to ten)!

OT DVDs to be Non-Anamorphic Widescreen?
The Digital Bits has a rather interesting article stating the upcoming DVD releases of the Original Trilogy theatrical versions will not be in anamorphic widescreen. What does this mean for us? Basically, it is a sacrifice in quality because they will be using the laserdisc transfers from 1993 instead of the higher resolution technology available today. Let's hope George Lucas is able to track down the original theatrical prints in order to give us the quality that's expected in 2006. Thanks to forum member MWB for the info!

Lucas Autograph in Topps Evolution Series
The Official Site updates tonight with some Topps trading card news. The new Star Wars Evolution: Update Edition, due out this summer contains a rare cut signature card from none other than the man himself, George Lucas. Also in the set are cut signature cards for the late Sir Alec Guinness and the late Peter Cushing. Collectors take note - there is only one of each cut signature card in the entire Evolution card series!

"New Toys" for Original OT on DVD?
Last week brought us great news of the theatrical versions of the original trilogy being released on DVD. This week we see preparations for its release are moving along as shown by the above advertisement. Of particular interest is the following line: "Integrated Retail Event Including Day and Date Launch of All-New Toys and Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Video Game." Vader's Bad Day On Robot Chicken
The talk of the Star Wars Community the last week or so has been a stop-motion short from the Cartoon Network show, Robot Chicken. For the unaware, the show uses action figures to animate out bits and things. It's a great show on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim".
The latest episode featured a great spoof on Star Wars about Vader making a call with some bad news to his boss, Palpatine. You can check out the bit here at YouTube.com. Beware it's slightly adult-themed, but clean enough.

Our friends at Slave1.jp have posted an image gallery of the new Gentle Giant Chrome Darth Vader Statue. This exclusive statue was one of a few exclusive items released on Friday by Gentle Giant at an event hosted by blister.jp in Tokyo. While 1000 of these statues were sold in Japan on Friday, another 1500 will be available to those who preordered at last summer's conventions, with the remaining quantity offered via a US retailer later this year.

"Original" Original Trilogy on DVD
The Official Site updates tonight with fantastic news! This fall, fans can look forward to a September filled with classic Star Wars nostalgia with the release of the original theatrical incarnations of the classic Star Wars trilogy. Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release individual two-disc releases of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. Each release will include the 2004 special edition as well as the original theatrical edition of the film. This release will only be available for a limited time, from September 12th to December 31st, 2006!
