Target Has Deals In October

Keep your sights fixed on Target for the week of October 3rd to the 9th. There's some substantial savings rumored to be had, and if your Target store is anything like mine, you should have some decent army builders lying around. Look for $3.88 Basic figures, $14.99 Electronic Lightsabers, and 15% off all other Star Wars toys. Not too shabby to get about $1 off your basic figures.

Check your local papers for the ad, and get your rear in gear on some of those OTC items you were thinking of maybe buying. This deal comes just in time as Target is getting in lots of VOTC, the exclusive Slave I, and a good variety of OTC basic figures. Can you really ask for much more?

Defender Wishlists II: A New Hope

Last year we ran an informal poll with your 10 most wanted characters from the current 5 Star Wars films. With the recent DVD release, an OT heavy year in 2004, and most of the plans done until Episode III, I thought it would be a good time to revisit those lists. Here's how it works: You send your Wish List for your 10 most wanted 3 3/4" figures to me, be it new figures, resculpts or even re-releases, and I'll tally the votes. After four weeks of list taking I'll publish the results and we will move on to the next movie. Starting off the cycle is Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. If you need help coming up with names check out the Official Site's Databank: Episode IV. Entries will be taken by e-mail: spearson@jedidefender.com or you can post them in our forum!!! Have fun and thanks for sending in your lists (remember to limit it to ten)!

JD Review: Super Articulated Clone

A long time coming? Yeah, of course, but while this figure's not new by any stretch, it's a review I did when he was new, and one I think anyone with or without a SA Clone may appreciate.

So to you, Jedi Defender is proud to bring you the review of the Clone Wars Super Articulated Clone Trooper (that's a mouthful)! Click his image above, read on through, and share your opinions with us in our forum topic on this figure.

To me, the SA Clone sets a standard Hasbro should strive for in the vast majority of its basic figure lineup. This thing is one of the most impressive action figures I've seen in any toy line really. Hmmm, now to figure out how to get these by the caseload though...

Star Wars on the Newstands

The release of the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD is making big news around the globe, and Star Wars is making the cover of several magazines available on newstands now or in the near future. One of my favorite magazines, Entertainment Weekly, has a neat cover story on the Trilogy DVD release, featuring interviews with George Lucas and Mark Hamill and "10 things we didn't know that we learned from the Star Wars DVDs". On newstands now.

The Force is Strong with DVD Sales

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - First-day DVD sales of the long-awaited 'Star Wars' trilogy topped an estimated $100 million worldwide, but entertainment industry analysts said the multi-disc set was unlikely to break records soon.

Actual sales figures are not yet publicly known. The film's distributor, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, released a statement late Wednesday trumpeting $115 million in combined first-day global sales of both the 'Star Wars' DVD and the 'Star Wars Battlefront' video game, which simultaneously went on sale separately Tuesday.

Celebration 3 Info Is GO!

Get thee to StarWars.com if you're planning on attending Celebration III next April. While I've actually had some of my plans already set, the big shebang from Lucasfilm's finally being given to the masses.

Nice and centrally located for the North American crowd. Click the link above to find out all the juicy details however.

Hoth Han Revisited

When pictures first surfaced of the Saga Hoth Han figure, the Collecting World suddenly was divided into two camps. One who thought the coat should be Blue like the Vintage version and one who thought it should be Brown like the POTF2 version. Most photographic evidence from the film stills support the Brown group. Now, with the release of the DVD there is even more support for the Brownies. Click on through for more!

More Star Wars Miniatures? UPDATED

Yup, for those of you unable to satiate your Minis Obession (*cough*Matt*cough*), I bring to you yet MORE Star Wars Miniature Goodness.

This time our friends De Agostini from across the pond are apparently having yet another subscription program thingy like their famed "Fact Files" series. The Fact Files rock, I can attest to that because JD Member BigDumbWookie helped me out with getting some of those, and I can only imagine this upcoming supplement to the new WOTC Miniatures Game is going to rock as well.

Click the Star Wars Battle Games text above to go right to De Agostini's site explaining all the details. Now, take it from me, De Agostini is overseas so shipping may not be cheap on these (If they are shipping to the U.S.), but I bet it'll be worth it. Their Fact Files are top-notch, so I imagine this will be as well.

UPDATE:

The U.S. may be up a creek on this one. BigDumbWookie's reminding us that the Fact Files line wasn't something easy to nab here in the states, and I recall that, and that your best bet may be making contacts with overseas folks to help you out.

It's rare, but when it happens it hits you hard when things are exclusive outside the states. Seems this is gonna be one of those times. Contact De Agostini and feel free to discuss in our forums what kind of luck you have with them.

Hey everyone! Star Wars Insider #78 is shipping as we speak, and I got mine today. Let me tell you that it's got excellent images of two hotly anticipated figures later this year.

Insider making itself worth a look for sure. Both figures are looking like pretty sharp sculpts aimed squarely at the discerning eyes of adult collectors.

Update: Server Change

Update: The physical moving of everything is complete, though there are still many bugs to be worked out. Most importantly, the forums and news are fully functional. News archives, polls, and the image gallery, as well as various content pages still need to be repaired. We are hoping to be done by Wednesday if not sooner. Once again, thank you for your understanding.

This is a notice that I will be changing JediDefender.com over to a new server. Please be ready for any downtime, though is it not expected. This will be a full change to a new company and all records will be moved over. Until all of this is complete, the forums will be closed and no news updates will be posted. When everything is complete, I will post here in the news to let everyone know. Thanks for the understanding and cooperation.

WOTC Rebel Storm Miniatures Hit the Market!

Yesterday finally saw the long-awaited release of the new WOTC Star Wars miniatures, from their Rebel Storm collection. Looks like it's only the Booster sets available so far, which retail for $13 each, and can be found at most of your local comic or gaming stores. You can check out some more news on the line over at WOTC, where you can also find a great text and visual checklist of all the figures as well.

Looks like a pretty cool line to collect, though definitely a pricey one judging by what's popped up on eBay so far... If these minis strike your fancy, why don't you stop on in the JD forums, and discuss them with the rest of the gang! Thanks to BigDumbWookiee for the heads up.
