Those heads are cool, I've never seen those figures though.  Are they still shipping?  All of the CORPS! figures that I have ever seen were ugly human figures  :-\

Ennis, these are new ones. The blue one is still up.

The corps! space guys line was an even more obscure line then the original one. I don't think they're still shipping.

As I said, I'm willing to trade these.

Those are really cool heads for droids.

Ok, the wife went out for a drink.  What are CHEWIE's plans?  To start working on my Droids finally tonight for a bit!

Ah, no little CHEWIES running around here yet.  I did get my droid started... I think you guys will like him.  It's pretty different from what we usually make.

Cant wait to see it. Im actually working on yet another droid. The one that i was working on before didnt turn out quite as I expected, as everyone knows. Now Im armed with much better info thanks to FFURG so, I'll be attempting Bollox yet again. This time hopefully with much better results. ;D

Arachnid Mining Droid
« Reply #428 on: August 20, 2005, 11:19 PM »
Ok guys, here is my first entry - a Bactoid Factories Model T-40 Arachnid Mining Droid.  Just a fan fic design.

This was made from that big Destroyer Droid in the short lived POTJ 6-inch line.

First of all, I wanted to take advantage of this month's challenge to make something I could use in the Rykrof photonovel series.  In the series, the Separatists are doing some excavations on Rhen Var searching for some ancient Sith artifacts.  Here's a pic showing that happen from the latest photonovel -

But later on I need to show some more "dirty work" in the digging.  I figured making some sort of droid would be a good idea.

So, basically here's what I did -

(1) I had that large Destoyer Droid body, and actually cut it up and mangled the damn thing about 2-3 years ago.  It had just been sitting in a box all this time.

(2) After toying around with it, I positioned the legs "upside down" and it gave what was left of the droid a much taller look.

(3) Then I added in some extra Battle Droid arms to give it some hands.

(4) And then added in a blaster/mining gun near the front of it on the underside.

(5) After that I added in the little "U" shaped wire at the belly area.

(6) Then I painted it several coatings.

(7) Finally I decided to add the black wires at the top.

I only made one of these, the "other two" are just a bit of photo manipulation -

Excellent CHEWIE! I really like the arms and the wires, it really looks like a worker droid. The paint job is, as usual, perfect. You did a great job on the photo manipulation too, it is totally seamless. Do you have any from shots.  I'd suggest adding some sort of optical sensor or radar sensors or something like that. It has to be able to see what it is doing.  :) Unless that is what that little black stick is.

I added your entry to the image thread. It would be nice to see that stick-ified. :)

Yeah, I thought about adding some sort of "eyes" to it.  I'll experiment a little with it today if I have time and maybe add something to it, then update with another pic.

Great job CHEWIE!  These are very creative and they look like they look perfect for Star Wars-esque mining droids!  The battledroid arms are a cool addition - it really looks like he would use them to manipulate rocks and stuff.
I think maybe adding 2 or 3 "eyelets" on the front of the body (like R5-D4 or something) would be a nice addition.  Although, now that I think about it, most underground "creatures" don't use eyes at all, so maybe some sort of radar sensor like SLC mentioned would be a better idea.

Very inventive custom!  Definitely not what I had expected  ;D

Thanks Greg, that's a great idea on the "eyes" - something simlar to R5D4 would probably look very cool.

When I get around to adding something to it, I'll post it... but I have a couple of new customs first that I need to add to my regular thread.

i have a couple of 12" scale Imperial astromech repaints that i just finished that were in the background on Death Star II in ROTJ. i know its nothing spectacular and can't compare to the imaginative work that others have done here, but i am happy with the paint and color and wanted to share them here. i also glued actual wire to their feet to make them look more dimensional. i'm still new to customizing, so the bulk of my work has been repaints, but i hope to get more practice at sculpting for more creative works later on.

here is my R2-Q5 and R5-A1:
