I had it in my head that the cards for the diecast ships were the same size as the action figures.  Wow, was I wrong.  They're a LOT bigger.  I was going to use a standard acrylic case, but it looks like I'll have to shop around for one that fits.

Send an e-mail off to Oscar, he has cases that will fit anything.  ;)

Just pulled the trigger on a Yak Face from overseas - came to just a bit over $100, about 9.5 condition, with staff. So. I guess I'm done with vintage... weird.

Nice, post a pic when he arrives.  :)

No one can ever be done with vintage.  :P   ;)

Pics will be forthcoming, indeed.

I'm done as far as I have one of every loose figure complete with accessories, in the quality and condition that I'm happiest with. I admire carded collections, but it's not for me - takes up too much room (and $$$$). I'm sure I can replace a figure here and there, but I'm happy to sit on what I've got for awhile. It will be strange not to have specific figures to search for on ebay anymore, though.

Way to go.  And congrats on completing your collection!  He's still on my list.  I've seen a couple Yakfaces on ebay this past week... so tempting.

Nice work.  I'm short four at the moment, but am thinking about dumping birthday cash into getting there next month.  After those I want to pick up a few more variants.  I need a brown hair Luke, Lando with the teeth... etc.  After that, a few vehicles and I'm done.  I'm with you that carded vintage is too much trouble.  It's pretty awesome, but I don't want to spend $200 on something where the bubble might just fall off in 10 years.

Can we see the auction that you won?  Every time I watch a Yak Face that's in decent shape it ends $140+

That is the way I completed most of my last 17, overseas. I got them from the UK or Germany & found that they ship internationaly, it just did not show up in the US bay as they were listed in their own country. A $100. Yak is a great deal.   ;D

Thanks, all. I'm happy with it, for sure.

Sure!

Star Wars Vintage LAST 17 YAK FACE nr MINT C9.5 SUPERB

I actually haggled back and forth a few times to get from £69.75 to £64.98 (about $115 to $107). I tried to get him down to the equivalent of $100 but no dice. I'm happy to have gotten it for under $110, though I just saw this completed auction for about $79 with shipping:

YAK FACE / Vintage Star Wars POTF Last 17 complete RARE

Damn. Don't know how I missed that one.

I think you got the better one. The 2nd one you listed has turned yellow on the torso, the one you got looks way better.  ;)

On vacation in Chicago, and so I went to Quake today after hearing so many good things about it.  Definitely glad I did:

;D  Literally had to PEEL myself out of that store.  Vintage holy land.  What was kind of neat in a weird way was the number of customs in his loose boxes - someone didn't like their work anymore.  One was a very deformed 98 Spacetrooper.  Sad, because I never got that one.
