"Choke on that, causality!"

Take this with the requisite boulder of salt, etc. etc., but even so ........ damn.

Variety: 'Futurama' may get new lease on life

Please be true. Please be true. Please be true. This pretty much made my otherwise spectacularly mediocre day.

Discuss.

I love(ed) Futurama even more so than Family Guy.  Couldn't wait to catch the new eps on Sunday nights.  I don't see how FG could come back without Futurama following.  Haven't checked in awhile, but I believe only the first two volumes can still be found in stores...

I so hope that Futurama comes back, I remember seeing it late night here and thinking wow cool check out the ships and stuff.
Then when the dvd's came out I snapped em up, they go into the dvd player at least once per week.
I hope if they do get it back they dont get Leela and Fry together , the tension between the two of them was one of the things that made the show enjoyable.
That and Zoidberg
The problem with America is stupidity I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself

I cant understand how Fox kills off good shows and brings us all the reality crapfests and bottom-of-the-pond-scum like "War at Home".

We NEED Futurama back... and Arrested Development KEPT!!!!!!!!!!

HEAR ME FOX????????????

I personally can't stand most of the crap on adult swim save for FG, Futurama & ATHF.

Damn...

Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill (I think it's ending though :(), American Dad, and Futurama on the same night?

Animation Domination indeed.

I love(ed) Futurama even more so than Family Guy.

Same here. As I've said elsewhere, FG is gag-driven while Futurama is character-driven. They're both really funny, but on Futurama you actually come to care about the characters instead of just laughing at the random silliness/stupidity of cardboard cutouts. IMO the the first type is much more conducive to long-term interest and repeat viewings.

BTW, I didn't "discover" Futurama until the Adult Swim reruns, in 2004 I think. I still haven't picked up any of the DVDs, but I intend to do so eventually.

I'm excited about the prospect of Futurama returning, but if it doesn't happen I'll be satisfied watching the old ones over and over (finally got some of the DVD's).

Whilte I like Family Guy very much, I just think Futurama is on another level.  I think Valin's right on the mark describing FG as "gag-driven".  That can get old after awhile, but Futurama seems to get better the more I watch it.  I also love the countless references to various sci-fi works.

One thing I like about Futurama compared to Simpsons and FG is that it sometimes (though rarely) gets really serious--almost depressing.  Remember the episode with Fry's fossilized dog?  The first time I saw that episode I was shocked at how intense it got.  Another example is the "Luck of the Fryish" episode.  That Breakfast Club music gets me every time :)

(Hope I didn't spoil anything for any Futurama newcomers.)

Ya, I was watching Futurama on AS last night and they had the bumpers which said that the entire cast is going into the studio and the 4 DVD movies should be out by Summer.

Isn't the "entire cast" like 4 people?   ;D

I just hope the writing is as good.  I'm really excited about the movies.  Hopefully Leela will still reject Fry.  They're better when they're bickering.
