I guess it would be more of an issue of where to put it all?

Keeping MOC carded figures especially if the person buys the same figure 12 times b/c of different cardbacks/pack-ins or whatever would take up a lot of space and careful packaging.

I do not envy them at all, I saw the light many years ago ;D

Wayyyyyy too much. Wayyyyy too many re-releases that were available wayyyyy too recently. A few here and there for the cool cardbacks, and that's it for carded this year.  Tataooine and Hoth will get packed away with the UGH and a few troopers, that should do it for my 2006 carded collection.

I collect carded and loose.  I've been overlapping cardbacks so the bubbles touch for over a decade now - but ROTS packaging screwed that lal up.  The current bubbles allow for it to an extent - but those ROTS packages take up 3 times more room than figures used to.  If I run out of wall space (a distinct possibility over the next year or two) the Episode III figures are first in line to be boxed up.  No question about it.

Action-Figure.com is saying there will be over 80 figures this year.    :o

From that article...
"First up is the new Saga range which will have over 80 basic figures from all 6 movies. "

2006 Saga Collection -
53 Basic Figures
12 Episode III Heroes and Villains Figures
14 Episode III Greatest Battles Figures

Well, that's 79 figures right there... and that is only through October or so that we know of.

Is that counting the running change on the Endor Rebel Trooper?

I've returned to my selective ways of old and am only buying figures now that 1) I really like 2) Don't have 3)replace an older figure with more articulation 3) are something entirely new tha I want. 4) are main characters that fit a theme like Jedi, Clones etc.

As a result I know with the Endor wave I will only be getting around 4 figures, and Naboo may actually be a wave where I only get 1 or 2 figures or I just may pass on as nothing is really pressing there. I do like the pod racer figures so I may get them. Then again, I have enouh Ep. I figures to last a lifetime so why do I need more of em? I've said it before but time for Hasbro to earn my money and time for me to use some of that money to buy books for my classes literature circles (nope, district and school won't pick those up for me).

I was not surprised by the amount mainly because of the success of ROTS.  I assumed they would put a lot of product out early and they certainly did.  However, it did force me to be selective this year.  Then again I had to be last year as well.  There was quite a bit of ROTS product I would like to have gotten but had to cut things out.  Same with this year.  I am actually a bit happy for some of those Heroes and Villains repacks.  I might actually buy that Padme and a few others.  Maybe.  At least I get another shot at them.

Now that SS has come along with their 12 inch line I have to watch it even more.  AT least there is more product out there than not enough.  So, I can't really complain about the quantity I suppose.  The quality of some of the products are so-so of course.

My main complaint this year is the prices of the exclusive figures.  But that's me.

My main complaint this year is the prices of the exclusive figures.  But that's me.

And me too.

"Exclusive" figures are twice as expensive as they should be (for no reason but the greed of the retail store and Hasbro) and they usually amount to a simple repaint of a sculpt that they already have.  It's never anything earth shattering.

I am amused at all of the Demise of Grievous figures clogging up the pegs at Target right now.

Still and all, I'm fine with the exclusives until the day they release a figure that I really want, or an army builder like the Galactic Marine, as a Target Exclusive for $13.  Not only would it be a bitch to find, when you do it'd be too expensive to army build it like you want to.

And what would be the rerelease of the Endor/Naboo wave? Luke? Because I can hardly think of him as a rerelease since the figure has changed so much.

Obi Wan Kenobi. He's a rerelease from EP1.

His hands changing slightly hardly constitutes a "new" figure, but it's slightly different.  Other than that, that figure so far appears to be a repack of the Saga Jedi Luke with some new stuff...   The hands may even be re-used from another figure actually.  I'd say Kenobi or Vader are the re-release though, and Luke is in the "sorta new" column because of the hands.  OCB can elaborate on that though more.
