Magna Droid - IG-100
« on: February 11, 2006, 02:54 PM »
Hey gang!  Here's a manga droid that I did for my son.  he thinks grievous and the manga droids are awesome, so I detailled one for him

gregorian did one with artic  knees, and I used his recipe to add to mine; although mine isn't nearly as nice as his.  :'(
enjoy!

I love the use of Windu blades for the edges of the ElectroStaff, and the weathering looks awesome too. And its Magna, not Manga.

Yep, the knee joints look great, as does the spliced together cape.  A really nice figure you made here.  It's hard to believe how poorly Hasbro did.

Wow, this guy came out great!  From the look of it, it's probably better that you didn't use a dremel for the stikfas joints, the way that you cut them look perfect to me.  The modified cloak is awesome, it seems to be right out of a movie still.  Awesome work man!  ;D

Definitely liking this. took a mediocre (if that...) figure and made it 100 % better. Love the cape especially

That is pretty sharp work Talon...

How exactly did you go about splicing the joints?  So those are microman knees, but did you just hollow the calf and like insert the ball joint?  I'm not quite seeing how you did it.

I think I'd have gone with a sewn cape just because you gave the figure such great poseability that a cloth cape would le tyou pose him as you saw fit...

Overall great job though, I love it.  I wish Hasbro had done half as well as that.  their figure's moderately good, but for poseability it's horrible to say the least.  You spiced that up a lot, nice work man.

Thanks for the words Commander_Miseria, I may go back and add the head band; just for GP's.   :D

Jesse James:

The Knees are from a stikfas figure, thigh and forearm.  I did try to drill holes in the stikfas parts but only succeeded with the bottom of the knee; the upper tinier piece was too dangerous for me. I'll leave the riskier stuff to Gregorbian.   ;D

I cut some small pieces of paper clips and inserted those into the holes I drilled at the top of the calf and bottom of the knee.  Everything is just glued together.  Yeah I kinda wish I would have done a cloth cape; but I had let it slip to my son that I was working on something for him and I didn’t have too much time.  Kids are Soooo impatient.   ;D

I'd be afraid to give one of my customs to my 7 year old son.  I've seen the way he plays with these toys :)
