"Nevermind the dozens of conservative actors that I could name off of the top of my head"  I want to see you name these dozens.

You can start with:

James Woods
Ron Silver
Bruce Willis
John Malkovich
Arnold Schwartzenegger
Ted Nugent
Clint Eastwood
Charleton Heston
Adam Baldwin
Meatloaf
Dean Cain
Alice Cooper
Shannon Doherty
Jim Caviezel
Robert Duvall
Kelsey Grammar
John Rhys-Davies
Mickey Rooney
Jessica Simpson
Ben Stein
Tony Danza
Kurt Russell
Pat Sajak
Tom Selleck
Andy Garcia
Bo Derek
Stephen Baldwin
Vincent Gallo
Dean Cain
Fred Thompson
Angie Harmon
Rip Torn
Dennis Hopper
Vince Vaughn
Danny Aiello
Joan Rivers
Wayne Newton
Freddie Prinze Jr.
James Caan
Billy Bob Thornton
Colin Quinn
Delta Burke
The Immortal Chuck Norris

Mel Gibson?

The problem that leads to the perception of Hollywood being straight up liberal is that most of the conservative actors are just crappy actors.   ;D

There are also a slew of authors, musicians, and athletes who vote republican or contribute money to the republican party.

Now name liberals... :P

That's a werid list, vocal conservatives?

I don't think any political ideology when I think of these:
James Woods
Dean Cain
Dean Cain
Shannon Doherty
Angie Harmon
Rip Torn
Vince Vaughn
Danny Aiello
Robert Duvall
John Rhys-Davies
Tony Danza
Pat Sajak (not an actor)
Vincent Gallo
Dennis Hopper

So yeah, these count:
Ron Silver (hard to classify him as conservative)
Bruce Willis
Arnold Schwartzenegger
Clint Eastwood
Charleton Heston
Adam Baldwin
Ted Nugent (not an actor)
Alice Cooper (not an actor)
Jim Caviezel
Kelsey Grammar
Jessica Simpson (semiactor, heh)
Ben Stein
Kurt Russell
Tom Selleck
Andy Garcia
Bo Derek
Stephen Baldwin

A lot of those people are vocal with their campaign contributions - but either way, there are plenty more.  Sure it's less than half, but the fact remains that there are lots, while the perception is that there are none.  I should have used the word Celebrity, not actor - if you use the word celebrity, there are hundreds and hundreds to choose from.  Try googling Republican Celebrities or Conservative Celebrities and you'll find lots of websites with long long lists of people.

And it is very easy to classify Ron Silver as a Republican - he's a neo-conservative and is about as hawkish as they come.  Anyway, I've made my point, you've made yours, we should probably get off this train now.

Ron Silver showed up on the 'right' after 9/11.  Hawkish on terrorism is all I know of him being conservative.

Sure there are lots of conservative celebrities.  But ton's more liberal ones. It is almost the nature of celebrity.  My point was get off the idea that liberal hollywood = the actors are libs.  They are not the one's 'pushing a liberal agenda.'  These are the people funding and pulling the strings as to what movies and TV shows are created.  Actors read the lines given to them.  Yes, they can pick and choose which projects to do, but they are generally NOT the reason for the project.  Hollywood used to be a conservative institution, it is not anymore.

Anyway, my main point is most politically vocal celebrities are pulling for liberal causes; way more than half.  And it doesn't matter.  If an actor does something I don't like, politically or otherwise, I can choose not to give them my money.  Celebrity does not equal intelligent, and I'll not base my life on what a celeb decides to support.

As to the awards, they aren't of much value to me either.  Near all the movies that won are not ones I'd ever even consider watching.  I'd have to dredge up some feeling for the awards to be sad that ROTS got totally snubbed.

Might as well shut this one down Rob - nobody gives a **** about the Academy Awards now and it's just too darn tough to get back on topic after we've gone this far off track!

It's generally not our style to shut things down once the 'question is answered' or the event has passed, we'd rather it fade away and be available should the need to bump it ever arise - so I'll leave it open.

But if Dafoo wants to talk about the political leanings of various celebrities from here on out, I'd ask that he send me a PM.

Here's a back on track for you, "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp!" The Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences awards this as the best movie song of the year.

I'm litteraly so sick and confused from that song. Everyone is acting like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, and it just isn't.

If I hear another highschool student or over the hill celeb belt out that line, I might just cry.

You know, I have not seen Punch Drunk Love - I love Paul Anderson, but absolutely loathe Adam Sandler.  I simply cannot stand the man.

I recommend you rent it. If you like Anderson, you'll like this. This is unlike anything Sandler has ever done, no gibberish or shennanigans. Just straight up black-comedy and drama...

Well, unlike anything until Spanglish. . which I love.  Not only does it star one of the hottest women alive, Sandler is fantastic. . shows real talent.   But, alas, Chloris Leachman steals the show.
This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.
