the best twenty bucks Virex could ever spend...
« on: April 9, 2006, 05:43 PM »
i sincerely hope that i am the first one to bring this to your attention:

$20

scroll down about six psuedo-celebs and salivate serriptitiously...

if this has already been established, pardon my lack of foresight; i am known to be without clairvoyance from time to time.

I've already got his autograph; I don't think my heart could handle getting an actual, real, live phone call from the man, the myth, the legend himself.

My name is Tommy Grand and I'm a private eye.

I've always been told that its better to have loved, and lost it, than never to have loved at all.

My favorite whiskey is Jack!

My favorite cigarette. . . is Marlboro.

My favorite pasttime is. . . helping ladies in distress.

My favorite TV show. . . is "Cheaters".

i suppose it's hard to keep folks at the level of mythical beasts when they call you up for a maximum of thirty seconds and likely bull**** about how awkward it is to be a ninth-tier celebrity making random phone calls to complete strangers for a pre-set amount of time.

i still think you should do it. twenty bucks? hell, make it forty and you've got the man for a whole minute.

Wait a second -

So it is actually humanly possible to get a phone call from Lazer on American Gladiators?

Good thing I keep a change of shorts with me at all times...

mr. belding, the professor, the soup nazi, lorenzo lamas, todd bridges; yes indeed. your wildest thirty-second dreams could come true. you could literally say "whatchoo talkin' bout' willis?" to willis himself for a maximum of thirty seconds straight. if you've got a quick tounge, you could probably get the phrase out about sixty times or more if he didn't hang up.

twenty bucks, folks.

Do you get a prize if you can get them to hang up on you before the 30 seconds.

I'm sure most of these people are happy to just be talking to another person that they would never hang up.

I've already got his autograph

And you could have had Spud Webb's autograph too, because the two of them were in the office together working on something or other  - but I didn't think of it at the time.

Sorry about not giving you credit for the autograph, Rob.  I thought about it, but wasn't sure if that was something you'd actually want credit for in the first place.  But you'd pleased to know that the autograph is something I'm very proud of, and it currently resides in a place of honor in my home.

I didn't mean for it to seem like I was fishing for credit if that's how it came off.  That was one of the best celebrity sightings we've had at work in my 2 and a half years.

I'd rank it like this:

Owen Wilson
Tommy Grand & Spud Webb
Troy Aikman & Roger Staubach
Harvey Weinstein (last week)
Tim Allen (didn't see him)

I'm sure there have been plenty of visits that I never knew about either...

We were supposed to have Dave Coulier and Lee Greenwood in - but unfortunately they're both dead.   :'(

maybe you could photoshop them all together into one big, happy field of dreams.

No, not at all.  If anything, I'm in the wrong for not initially acknowledging that if not for you, I wouldn't have this prized possession in my. . .  possession in the first place.

And RIP to Messrs. Coulier and Greenwood, but also RIP to Marmaduke, who nobody ever seems to remember also died a very brutal and ugly death around the same time.  Is it because he was only a dog?  Furthermore, is it because he was only a cartoon dog?  Because that makes it even more of a tragedy, in my opinion.

You just be careful what you ask for.  I don't know if you'd survive the shock of seeing a 7 headed hydra bookended by Tommy Grand and Spud Webb.
