yay. Good thing you ask about how to post a pic, caus eI didn't have any clue about the icon for the picture.

I have a question now. Which one are you in the photo?

Actually, Darth Broem was the one who started this thread and asked the question originally...

But if you want to find out which of those two girls Beth is, you need to stop by the Pics to Names thread for her answer...   ;)

Ugh, I am either doing something wrong or this is not possible to send.  Someone sent me a picture on Microsoft Outlook.  There is an icon on the bottom that I click on and presto the picture appears on my monitor.

So, I right click on the icon and there is a button that says "Copy"  So, I click on it.  I come over here hit the little picture icon and get my cursor inbetween to 2 areas and then I try to paste it in.  But the "paste" feature is greyed out.  So, I can not paste it in.

Does this mean I can not post it?  Or is someone able to do it and I just don't know how?

You have to have a server to post the picture. You cannot copy & paste a picture from your computer & you cannot upload it straight from your file. It must be downloaded to a server.

Try this free server to host your pictures.

http://villagephotos.com/

Then from there you can copy the URL address & paste it here.

And if that doesn't work out for you, you can always upload your photos to Webshots...

I'm curious about pics in the signature. The one I have in mind is 400x207. Is this kosher?

That's probably gonna be too big Ben.  I don't think we currently have a standard size, but we'll generally point out to folks when there's get too big, which I'm imagining yours would be.  You could toss a picture of it up in here to let us see and give you a final decision though...

How big would you say is too big  :P ?

I may want to annoy people for a while with rat pictures in my sig. I have posted it below so that you can tell me if it's OK. It is 36k.

Ratman,   :P

I think the size of the rat pix isn't too bad, but maybe you could combine one or two of the lines already in your sig, so the pix combined with the text doesn't take up too much space.  Maybe just stick the Rob L. in front of the RS stuff...?

Many thanks, Mr over-sized sweater  :P

I think that if I use the rat pictures I would probably just drop the text from the signature…no one reads it anyway :)

Sheesh...  You too now?!?   >:(   :-X

Good Lord.  I'm gonna have to have a baggy sweater burning party and video tape the thing and stick it in here so all you clowns will shut up about it!!!  Damn, go tease Brad instead.  He's sportin' pink sweaters these days, which is far worse than wearing baggy ones IMO...   ::)

I’m sorry…obviously a sensitive subject  ;D

I was only defining you by your sweater-wearing habits because you keep defining me by my rodent-ownership  :P

There's some great info in here for people unfamiliar with posting pictures, especially Matt's post here, which applies to pictures that are on the internet.

If you have a picture on your harddrive that you would like to post:

1. "Reply" to a post as usual.
2. Click on "Additional Options" below the Message screen.
3. Click on "Browse"
4. Select the picture from your hard drive
5. Click "Post"

This method only allows you to post picture(s) at the bottom of your reply as an attachment.  If you want to put a pic from your hard drive in the middle of your post, you'll need to upload your photo to a picture-hosting website, such as www.snapfish.com, which will produce a URL for the photo.  You can then use the method that Matt described in the link above.
