Re: SAGA2 HOF waves? (GREATEST HITS WAVE)
« Reply #60 on: February 11, 2006, 01:26 PM »
I'm guessing there will only be 1 wave of these (aka 12 figures) just like the HOF wave from Saga.  Its probably just to get rid of figures they produced in excess.  They won't be numbered, but I guess I'll get them because they will probably look good on the packaging and I try to get one of every figure (not all variations, but if they are numbered or considered a special type of wave, I get them b/c I'm obssessive compulsive).  Anyway, I think we can rest assured that they will not be followed by another wave of HOF

The ROTS Greatest Hits Wave, the way it should have been:

01. Blue Imperial Guard (With the Red Variant)
02. Governer Tarkin
03. Obi-Wan Kenobi (Red Leader Pilot)
04. Tactical Ops (501st) Trooper
05. Four-Arm Grievous
06. Clone Trooper (Articulated)
07. Holo Plo Koon
08. Commander Bly
09. Wookie Heavy Gunner
10. R4-P17
11. Chewbacca
12. Anakin Skywalker (On Mustafar)

Re: ROTS Greatest Hits Wave on SAGA cards

Wow... so they are really re-releasing these on Saga Cards?   ???

Huh.  Don't get me wrong, I'll probably buy them since I like carded figures (or rather my OCD likes them), but I don't think we really needed to see a couple of them again...

- Yoda? Isn't he already in the Senate Pod Battle Pack and Geonosis wave?  ???
- Explodo-Grievous?  Isn't the Target version and the Coruscant wave version enough?  ???
- #2 Anakin?  Isn't the Coruscant wave version w/Cloak enough?   ???
- Vader?  The Hoth wave Vader is being shipped in the Hoth, Geo, Coruscant, AND the Tatooine wave, and now a Vader in this wave too?  ???

The Clones are cool to re-release (everyone loves army builders) and Mace and Chewie are probably OK too since they are good sellers, but dang I am sick of Vader/Yoda/Anakin/Obi-Wan/Grievous.

They dropped the ball on this HOF wave.

I see some potential pegwarmers here... but  I guess in a way it could be ok with just one figure per case.  Still some absolutely pointless repacks here.

But any clone packed at 1 per case is a problem. Most stores will only get a few cases of this wave in (if my carkoon and hoth experiences hold true). That means you better be there when the box is broken open, or someone (like me) will have left with the grunts.

I hope that's a prototype and they actually paint the calfs, shins and hands grey to match the picture instead of just the shoulder pads.  Looks like some sort of special backpack there too.  They should include that also.

Not expecting it, but it would be nice.

Thanks for the pics Jeff.  Now seeing that carded clone, these might not be so bad.  Still some odd choices overall, but I suppose they are trying (maybe a little late) to feed the appetite people had for ROTS figures around Christmas of last year.  I'm not going to get them all, but I hope to pick up a Chewie to leave carded and maybe a couple others, we'll see.  Still, better choices could have been used I think.  Those cardbacks just make any figure look a little spiffier I think, even though I'm not a carded collector, its tempting to get a few to keep anyways.

I have to admit that's some killer packaging.  Wow, almost would we tempted to not open it.  Almost.

I'm such a sucker for this packaging...it's like printing money for Hasbro - I've already pre-ordered a case from NewForce....

Actually, I don't think the shoulders are painted--it's just the translucent tray covering it. If you look closely at his right shoulder (to the viewer's left), the gray overlaps onto his arm plate a little, matching to the edge of the tray. And on his left shoulder (our right) the tray doesn't cover his entire shoulder pad and neither does the gray.

Nothing looks painted to me, it looks like the exact same #41 Clone from the ROTS line.  Ok by me though.

Yeah, I think it is just a re-pack of the #41 Clone.  Has all the same "damage/scrape" marks on him.

One other thing I noted, I'm glad to see that the #36 Greivous (from the EE pictures) appears to have been replaced by the 4-Saber Greivous (on the cardback).  Much better choice I think since this will be out at the same time as the Target ExpodoGreivous.

Must be going color blind...

Will pass on these then.  I already have all the SA white clones I want.
