what if you camped out for 4 days and were #21

More than likely, those people are just scalpers "opportunists," looking to make a quick buck on eBay, so boo-*******-hoo if they don't get "their" system.  Cry me a river.

Maybe they can find some TMX Elmos or something to scalp instead.

I've been calling around town.  All the local stores have people camping out for the PS3.  Most stores are only getting SIX systems...  There will be many disappointed people.

Jesus, PS3's are going for $2100+ on ebay - why would you keep it if you scored one?!

I have to commend ebay a little for their new requirements for selling the new video game systems - even though they're easy to get around, their intent is honorable.

I was at the Super Wal-Mart in Palmdale last night, and the PS3 crowd there was getting out of control. The cops showed up and they closed down the store (normally 24 hour).

1. Must have a Feedback of 50 or more.
2. My Feedback score must be 98% or above.
3. I may only list one system. I may list 1 PlayStation 3 and 1 Nintendo Wii with a photo of my pre-order receipt for each system.
4. I must accept PayPal as my only payment option.
5. I must include a photo of my receipt in the listing.
6. No Buy It Now will be allowed.
7. No one day listings will be allowed.

I believe that's only for preorders. They'll probably update it for when they hit on Friday.

Wow, that's just nuts.  Some people have way too much money I guess :).  Its crazy how some people just have to have it "right now" too.  I've heard that these will be pretty limited at launch, but you know eventually they'll be easier to get.  Why not save the $9,500.00 by waiting a little while :).

Odds are half the people who bid these things up have no intention of paying.  During lunch, I watched a PS3 end at $4050 - won by some guy with no feedback.

Coincidentally, he was one of the bidders on that $10K PS3 (and many more I suspect).

So eBay has kinda cracked down on the Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii Pre-Sales.

Quote

Here are two listing policy clarifications that we are implementing effective immediately:
Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii Pre-Sales. These highly-anticipated video game consoles will be in extremely short supply during their initial launch. During the launch of the similarly-released Microsoft Xbox 360, we saw a high number of well-intentioned sellers unable to meet their pre-sale obligations to buyers due to restricted supply, as well as an increase in fraudulent listings for these items. To prevent similar problems with these latest releases, the following restrictions have been placed on pre-sales for the PS3 and the Wii:

Only one of each console can be listed per eBay account prior to the launch of the console (PS3 is expected to be available on 11/17/06, Wii on 11/19/06).
The seller must only accept payment through PayPal, and have at least 50 feedback with a 98% or greater positive rating so that they qualify for PayPal Buyer Protection.
The pre-sale item must be listed in the 3, 5, 7 or 10-day formats, and cannot use Buy It Now.
The listing must include a photo of your pre-order receipt in the description.

So you want a Nintendo Wii & can't wait! Do what Cartman did on Southpark, season 10 episode Go, God. Go! Part II & XII. If you remember the late 70's & early 80's, you'll catch it!

My brother-in-law bought four Xbox 360's last year on ebay.  He managed to resell three of them for a high enough profit to pay for the fourth one.

PS3 and Wii are going to go crazy after this weekend.  Personally, I plan on buying a Wii, but I have no problem waiting until I can find one in a store.  I have too much stuff to do this weekend so I doubt I'll be able to pick one up on Sunday (assuming I could find one anyways).

Thats just stupidity at its finest.
Half of those bids were from people with zero or negative feedback, tell me there was no shill bidding in that auction.
Idiots with way too much money.
The problem with America is stupidity I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself

LOL! Funny how half of those people that bid are no longer registered users. Ebay must be cracking down.
