If you're interested in a backward-compatible PlayStation 3, the Metal Gear Solid version is available on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Metal-Gear-Solid-Pack-3/dp/B0014WJ78E/

If you're interested I'd bite immediately.  It probably won't be there long.

Wow, it sounds like the PS3 is really struggling, apparently placing sixth among all video game sales - and bested by the PS2 following its price drop.

Yeah, they need a price drop.  Hopefully one will come soon.

Two things:

A.) Don't take the term 'backward compatible' literally and
B.) It's still available

Picked up COD4: Modern Warfare the other day on Amazon - $35. Still waiting patiently for Fallout 3 to hit the $30 range...

Wait until October!  They're releasing a "Game of the Year" edition for the PS3 that will include all 5 expansion packs.  It'll be $59.99.  Given that each expansion costs $10, it's a fantastic bargain!

I actually sold my copy on eBay about a month ago anticipating the announcement.   ;D

Dude, I totally forgot about that. I wonder of my Game of the Year edition of COD4 I just bought from Amazon has any extra goodies?

It'll have the 4 DLC Maps. What's your user name Brad? We should play some CoD sometime.

Too little, too late.  Wii has been in the house for over a month and I'm just waiting for a price drop on RB2 before I start picking up the hardware to move my guitar games over to that platform.  Would have dearly loved to have found a PS3 that played the older GH and RB games off my PS2 disks.  **** 'em.  The cost of RB2 at full price and the Wii console would still be less than the backwards compatible PS3.  As it is I'll end up beating the price by $100.  I'll use the PS2 when I want and anything new goes to Wii.   :)

I'm a Sony fan, and I sincerely believe they screwed up the PS3 strategy.

I was fully prepared to be a Sony fan.  The first console I'd bought since an N64 was the PS2.  I'd have happily carried my PS2 games forward to the PS3 were it readily available with backwards compatibility.  I'd go so far as to say the price probably wouldn't have affected me all that much.  $300-500 I'd have lived with.

I have no idea what my username is. Let me get back with you on that... But yeah, we'll definitely have to arrange a duel.

I read not too long ago that Infinity Ward removed the new maps from new copies of COD4 a couple months ago.

And do you have a PS3 in addition to your 360, Ryan?

I do. I still prefer the 360, but I have both.

I bought CoD4 Game of the Year Edition for PS3 on eBay back in March and the DLC maps still came with it, that could have changed though I suppose.
